Only speculation, but per Fact File #104, Sidious was directly behind the Dark Reaper operation after learning about it from Sith Holocrons and intended to use Dooku and a team of dark side adepts to unleash the weapon against approved targets. It stands to reason that Sidious knew the defense if Dooku did (either through his own sources or demanding it from Dooku), but it's not certain he did.
Telekinesis can be resisted.
Force lightning can be resisted.
Mind domination can be resisted.
Force drain, also, can be resisted. Why give this only ability so much hype? While drain is unknown for Jedi of PT as they never faced it, it isn't true for Rule of Two Sith.
EU showed enough that Force techniques can be resisted by acquiring experience from encountering them or by mastering them personally. And mastery of a particular technique implies that user can utilize it as well as defend against it.

I wouldn't discard the possibility that at least some information on the drain was available for PT Jedi in the Jedi Archives.
Who cares if they can defend the dtechnique or not. In this case, it isnlt about the technique but who's using it. I can defend against a punch. But who;s throwing the punch? I can defend against it with my younger brother but can i block a punch from prime Mike Tyson? I know how to counter a leglock but can I do it when POaull Harris grabs a hold of me? Same with SW I can defend against lightnign from Count Dooku but can i stop a Force Storm from Darth Revan? Maybe if Yoda knows the defence he can block it form Kreia. Maybe. But can he block the same attack that killed quite possibly, hundreds of Miralukas on Taris? That killed the entire planet? Perhaps you should ask Juhani that. I'm sure whe'd be all too happy to tell you want happened to ehr brothers and sisters when Nihilus descended upon her homeworld in his sith flagship.

Count Dooku has been described as a "Master" of force lihgtning. Obi-Wan blocked it withe ase before he even masters Soresu in The Phantom Menace. Clearly, there is one thing being a master, and another thing being able to make redrum an entire planet bro.

It's Visas, you're thinking of. But you have a valid point.

I don't deny it. But teachings of how to fight it were lost. Because there was no need for it as for the last thousand years Sith were thought to be extinct. And Jedi couldn't learn it by practicing either as no one was able to drain the Force among Jedi and it would be weird, if they could. 🙂
Right...Even so I'd imagine the PT Jedi had some knowledge on Nihilus/Kreia and that they used Force drain, so it wouldn't be like they were totally oblivious to the effects of the technique in question, and therefore could conceive of a possible defence for it.

Dart Bandon, hmm...isn't he like an evil twin to the mighty Darth Bandon, huh? 😄
Originally posted by axel_jovanEven in Kottor II Jedi are oblivious to Force drain and blame Exile that the Sith learned to feed on the Force from her, when it's only about 50 years after Exar Kun and Dark Reaper events. Apparently Old Order was very ignorant, if they didn't give any consideration to Kel-Droma (Probably because he was on darkside for a while). And here we have events almost 4000 years later. I believe they did have information on Force drain but not actual teachings of how to counter it. You say they could conceive possible defense but why then it was Anakin who went searching for holocron instead? You can't learn to drive a car from a book. Let's not forget that holocron is a Force enhanced device, there is a fair chance that it could imitate Force drain for Anakin to learn apart from just giving naked words.
