Has this movie even been announced officially?

Well, Latino Review just revealed who the big bad is going to be in the Justice League film. Latino Review has a good track record when it comes to this type of stuff.

Kind of weird, since I was told another villain would be in the JL movie from someone who knows people in the entertainment business, but ah well.

Anyway, the big bad MIGHT be

Spoiler:
Darkseid

Please, WB, please don't screw this up!

Wouldn't that be a nice summer (if true).

I think having Darkseid is a colossal mistake - movie goers are going to get confused with Thanos who was just shown in the Avengers movie. "DC is just copying Marvel!" I can hear it now.

I'd prefer Brianiac, but that's just me.

What else they gna do? Have an alien invasion whose leader we see in the end cameo to be Darkseid??

Now that wouldn't be seen to be a complete copy of say The Avengers?

Whatever they do now(IF they do anything) it's going to be seen as an Avengers copy.

They could use other villains than Darkseid. Having him and his Parademon army is a big mistake, and would draw even more comparisons with the Avengers.

My suggestion would be something along the lines of the Injustice Society.

Or Star-ro. Or Any number of villains the JLA have faced.

Star-ro? Pr, lets stay away from potentially disastrous villains (gas Galactus, gas parallax, or a giant starfish).

Injustice Society (a gathering of the villains that forces the heroes to gather as well) or just a superior threat (Brianiac) are the way to go, IMO.

Just stay away from Darksied and leave that for a Superman solo if need be.

I would have started with another villain, say, Eclipso, but this makes sense, too, because it can open a whole new mythology of Gods.

Plus, MOST movie goers don't know Darkseid or Thanos, anyway.

And on top of that, they can go a whole new route with Darkseid or do something different.

That's my point - most movie goers don't know Darksied or Thanos, but they look similar. Large Purplish/Grey alien is all they will see.

Who is to say Darkseid will look anything like what he does in comics? Like I said, they might go a whole new rout with him. Use your imaginations, guys.

having Darkseid in the Justice League is no big surprise.. I like it.. i am looking forward to seeing how he will be portrayed and who exactly will play him..

also new Supes poster..

Personally, depending on how they're thinking about doing the film, I think a looseish adaptation of Morrison's White Martian arc that started his JLA run would be the best way to go.

I mean stuff would need to be changed but not only is it an interesting story (proactive vs reactive heroes etc), but it allows each character to shine in their own way, which is exactly what will be needed seeing as this will be the movie to introduce characters.

If the rumours are true, then what's probably going to happen will be most of the JLA vs Parademons, Batman outsmarting Darkseid some how and Superman finishing him... So basically the first arc of DcNu JLA. Plus you know, Darkseid works better as a Superman villain than a Justice League villain.

Just my two cents.

Go with Brainiac to avoid that. Plus if Marvel decides to use Ultron in Avengers 3, it would look like Marvel is copying DC. Ultron seems the likeliest choice after Thanos for Marvel since Ultron infecting the globes technology makes the threat internal and hard to control.

Is brainy considered a jla villain? anyway if the rumors are true wb is going to set this up as a massive trilogy. Somethibg like lotr.

Since whitewitchkung brought it up, the rumor I have heard, which is online now is that Brainiac is the mysterious force that destroys krypton, which sets things up for the jla movie. This would in turn counter ultron.

I'm not reading 13 pages but from what I gather the Justice League definitely is in pre-production and the solo movies will be created if the Supes movie does well?

According to Whedon, Avengers 2 is going to be more personal and deal with the Avengers trying to save themselves more so than the world. That doesn't quite seem like something that would involve Thanos, does it?

One idea that's circling the rumor mill is that Thanos will be entirely focused on in Guardians of the Galaxy and that Avengers 2 will deal with the Masters of Evil. Since Avengers 2 is supposed to "hit closer to home" - again from Whedon's own words - that does lend some credence to the MoE (that specific arc in which they invaded the Mansion coming to mind). Thanos, from what we know, could give two shits about Earth; he's interested in the universe and presumably Death (cue Thanos grin). I don't think he'd try to tear the Avengers apart from within or hit them where it hurts, but supposedly Phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is going to be even bigger than Phase 2.

As far as JLA goes, WB/DC just need to stop worrying about trying to be so original and not be labeled a "copy" of Marvel and the Avengers. A good story will completely make those critiques obsolete. Using Darkseid would be tough, and they'd have to condense the whole Fourth World/New Gods thing down if they went that route - especially considering they have to establish the JLA as well, not just the villain.
