Which in no way is relevant to the fact that Superman was flung away by that engine, hence the feat was performed with help from an external agency. Which means a KO'd Superman didn't travel all that distance under his own power.Even though it is the comic itself which makes it clear that Superman was caught in the space warp?
Anyways, if Nibedicus couldn't convince you, then I doubt I will. Let's just agree to disagree and leave it at that.
Superman convincing himself is clear evidence when he was KOED before he saw anything?
Lets agree to disagree then.

What? It's been made clear that Superman's own speed had no play in this.
Point that out bro.
If we're using non-hyperspeed feats, superman coming from vega in moments shits on thor's recent feat.

He has to first hear the signal and then come to metropolis from 25 lightyears away. Beat that thor or surfer.

Impressive.

^Fair enough. Though the fight with Gorr has been posted on the Ownage thread and the Thor Respect thread already. Also, the half-million lightyears feat is way superior to it.

Jimmy sends the signal watch and then after an undisclosed amount of time, Superman arrives:

It's an impressive flight speed feat obviously even if it took a full 24 hours (Example), but Jimmy didn't press the signal watch only to have Superman appear the next page like your scans suggest.

Or do you think superman instantly got the hypersonic signal while he was near vega?
Superman's hearing has almost always never followed the "sound traveling time" rule or sound physics. Usually, he hears things from far away at real time and usually doesn't respect the time required for such stimuli to travel distances.
We must assume the watch sent out the signal instantaneously or at least far faster than light, otherwise, how would Superman have heard it 25 light years away?
However, still a very impressive "feat". I'd say a more or less 25 light years w/in a short amount of time. Apparently there was a "battle" thus it wasn't an instant drop for Lightray.
To determine time elapsed we need to consider the sequence of events:
-Time it took for Olsen to activate his watch and run to the scene.
-Time for him to take a few shots and contemplate about taking "reaction shots" from the public.
-Time for people to take notice and gawk.
-Time for other people to comment on gawkers "Hey! Y'just can't stop, this is Metropolis, stuff like this happens twice a week!"
-Time for him to pull ppl out of safety and to have a short conversation.
-Time for Lightray to fall and decimate the area.
-Time enough to Olsen to recover from the impact and survey the scene and walk to the crater.
After all that occurred, Superman arrives.
While we cannot quantifiably measure how much time elapsed within the period where those above events occurred it is easily arguably no more than a few minutes tops.
Originally posted by NibedicusActually it has. Superman doesn't instantly listen anything especially from solar systems away like once he heard Lois screaming while she was going to get burned on a crucifix (don't ask) several minutes after she screamed. He also heard Kyle asking for help several minutes after he was screaming and Green arrow screaming for help once in the same manner. We just can't assume he instantly listened to the signal and that was the time he took. Its a hypersonic signal, it can't be lightspeed.

That time-lapse wouldn't be about a minute or two anyway at the speed events took place.

As I'm not a Superman expert, I'll have to ask you or other Superman experts out there if there has been instances where Superman has been able to respond to distant situations from far away in realtime using his superhearing.
Anyway, fact of the matter is, we know that he doesn't really respect "sound speeds" or even "light speeds" rule as there would have been no way to "hear" the watch from 25 light years away.
And unless we make some bold assumptions, we can really only place it between instantaneous or at least "a very short time". Beyond that, any kind of quantification would be purely speculation.
As we cannot determine "bottom" number w/o creating a what-would-be-controversial numerical assumption about how Superman's hearing worked for this particular scene, the only thing we can actually quantify is the possible max amount of time it took him to get from where he was based on possible time it took for each sequence of events to occur.

Holy shit, are we talking about time and page count? Jimmy Olsen comes out of daily planet building while lightray got blasted over metropolis, signals superman, runs towards the dying lightray who just fell down to the ground and then superman arrives. You think lightray fell to an hour or something like that? Or do you think superman instantly got the hypersonic signal while he was near vega? Do you know how to read and comprehend? Honestly? Or thorbaggery has finally reached to your mind?
We are talking about time, not necessarily page count as the story was linear. But I posted all the scans anyway, I do not want anyone thinking I left anything out. The way you presented the scene, it seemed like he got the signal and got their the next page, very deceptive.
That's pretty much my take, Jimmy signaled the watch and Superman heard it. Do you have any idea how long it would take a hypersonic signal to reach Vega? Superman senses in comics, whether Superman's or Thor's do not even remotely follow real life science.
