Reasoning behind prediction? Even boring Superman Returns did a little bit better than BB,.

Because it's coming post Superman Returns which everyone hated. It will have to do battle against the negative culture mindset the other film left with movie goers, just like Batman Begins did.

True, but it's tracking a little over 100M for opening weekend. Time will tell, my friend. I hope it does better than BB or SR, because if it doesn't, NO JLA movie.

BTW, did anyone get an applause after the MOS trailer at the viewing of IM 3? My friend just said there was clapper after the MOS trailer.

So you don't think it will top Superman Returns boxoffice?

There wasn't a MOS trailer in front of IM 3.

Well have to wait and see. I'm not really sure what the marketing team is doing. Everyone complains that Superman Returns was boring and had no action... but the trailers for Man of Steele haven't done anything to make people think this movie will be any different. They need to convince the average dumb as a sack full of potatoes movie goer that Superman is going to punch stuff, the moody and introspective Superman: First Blood trailer, is doing anything to elevate those concerns.

Someone making much more money then I do, decided that this was the right call... but I think they are mistaken. How many people even know that Michael Shannon is in this film?

Didn't show it in my theater. They showed the Thor 2 trailer... and I have to say that had my heart beating fast, and I was even a huge fan of the first one in retrospec. I'm pumped for Thor 2.

The trailer for MOS blows SR out of the water something fierce.

Just depends on the theater.

The Thor 2 trailer was good and can't wait to see it. I take it you didn't like the MOS trailer?

I thought the Thor trailer looked kinda weak.

Really? I know the internet doesn't reflect the general mass, but everyone seems to be pleased with the MOS trailers and I'm talking about non Superman fans. My friend who absolutely hates Superman (but oddly likes the old, black and white show) thought the MOS trailer looked awesome and is planning to see it with his family.

I like the Man of Steele trailer a lot, Superman has a beard and is all manly in Alaska, works for me... but I saw Catwoman opening night, I'm not who they need to convince.

It seems to me, that if the consensus is that the last Superman was boring and had no action, you would want to address that concern with the marketing of the new movie. That's not what they've done.

You thought trailer 3 really wasn't that action packed?

People tend to have a short term memory. Sure many saw it and still remember it's boring, but a well put together trailer can make everyone forget about all that.

There was an explosion... so I guess that is a step in the right direction. /shrug

Him punching someone while flying wasn't action?

Explosions and punching. Supposedly the trailer doesn't even show a fraction of what is in the movie. It's Snyder, man.

Flying into someone and a explosion does exactly scream "action packed"

I mean, compare the 3rd Superman trailer, to the most recent Star Trek Into Darkness trailer.
