Iron Man 3 vs Man of Steel

That's you, though. 3-D is successful, even if it's a fad that won't be around in a few years. People are buying the tickets, and the movie, if it's good, makes more money because of that.

So no, I don't think i'm incorrect at all.

Nope, but it's your right to believe otherwise, so feel free.

Again, you're ignoring the fact that most movies that come out with 3-D don't sell anywhere close to 1 billion dollars. You're also ignoring the fact that The Dark Knight got a bigger boost from WOM than it could have EVER hoped to get with 3-d.

But seeing as how NEITHER of us will ever KNOW for sure what WOULD have happened....the whole speculation is stupid. But that came from you guys anyway so....yah.

I'm not ignoring anything, tbh. shrug

3D is more appealing to certain audience, so it can sell more. It's better to have 3D and 2D then just one. It's more likely to attract more people. So PR has a point

3-d MAY help a movie's sales. But just because a movie has 3-d does not mean it's going to sell better than a movie without 3-d. That is flawed logic, and that's what I'm saying.

ANYWAY, Ironman 3 just reached the $1Billion dollar mark http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/05/17/iron-man-3-soars-past-1-billion?abthid=519672aafbfc66bf5a000011

Joins The Avengers; pretty cool.

Who said it would?

No, you're incorrect. Yes, the cost of the ticket sales will be more, but that doesn't mean that tons of those tickets are going to sell.

It does. I've ended up watching 3D so many times just out of convenience because there are so many showings. So I end up paying extra for no reason really.

Word of mouth about Heath Ledger's performance boost the movie AT LEAST as good as 3-d would have, and probably more so.

That's hype for the movie. That's something completely different. TDKR had similar hype with no one dying. Avengers had huge hype just because it was something new totally different bringing all those big heroes together. Heck IM3 had shit loads of hype being the first solo sequel to the Avengers.

Well obviously TDK and TDKR both surpassed a billion dollars without 3D.

HSX predicts MOS will open with 130 M! A massive number and could potentially take IM 3 domestic, if it has better legs.

Not having China is going to hurt the worldwide totals.

If that's true then definitely.

Last I heard there is no release date set for China.

China might happen eventually, but they love to impose stupid taxes, which put off a lot of Hollywood movies.

Hopefully MOS gets a release at some point.

That is crazy to think it would not be released there.

Actually, it will be released in August in China. From what I hear.

They must have added that recently then.

That's what I heard on the Box office forums. China did the same with TDKR, IIRC. Released it in late August. I'm assuming they will do the same for MOS.

Well, IF Man Of Steel passes up Iron Man 3, that will be an incredible feat. The main thing that MAY allow that to happen is the fact Christopher Nolan lent his name to the project. We'll have to wait and see. I'll be watching it for sure on the first showing. I hope it's not only better than the trash that SR was, but a good movie period.
