Many people missed this quote from Whedon in the Empire Magazine. Sounds like he doesn't consider Thor a rival for Hulk

Hulk is pretty much confirmed as the top dog and biggest gun in the MCU.

Marvel really droped the ball with Thor, his franchise is horrible, he is super nerfed and judging from how late Hemsworth joined compared to the other stars, i bet he is gonna be the Avenger with least screen time.

It was rather obvious from the film Hulk was greater than Thor in the film. The fanboys who denied this were always upset and now probably more so. Facts hurt their fanboyish feelings.

👆

Glad to see it finally confirmed.

Urmm no. I've had that magazine for a while but you're taking his words way too literally. The movie made it clear that Thor clearly is a rival to the Hulk.

No. The movie made it clear Thor can't go toe to toe for long against the Hulk. He just confirmed it as well.

No. The movie didn't make anything clear. Thor could've been holding back, Hulk was out of control. The movie gave fair treatment to both characters, by not undermining one of them to empower the other. Quit being stupid

Plus Thor fought him on the Hellicarrier. So couldn't even unleash his upper most powers like whipping Hulk up in a tornado like Thor did to The Destroyer.

And if you take Whedon's words completely literally he didnt say Hulk would beat Thor (he's actually specifically talking about Hulk and IM) but says "there's no one who can go up against Hulk".. Except Thor already did go up against him. So taking those words completely literally is silly and makes no sense.

Hulk vs Thor can go either way Imho. But if it ends up going toe to toe like on the Hellicarrier then Hulk has the obvious strength advantage.

The interview already made it clear Thor can't take him on by myself alone for long. Quit ignoring what he said and being a fanboy. It leads to stupid decisions, kiddo.

Says the guy coming to me for answers through pm. Hilarious.

How do you know Thor was "trying to take him on"? The movie tacitly implies that Thor was trying to contain the Hulk, so the Hulk doesn't destroy the entire helicarrier. It's very very hard to contain the Hulk. If Thor was actually taking on the Hulk, the fight could have gone differently.

Seriously though, they're both awesome characters. Stop picking favorites and hating.

Thor is hitting him and fighting him. We see that it is only pissing off the Hulk. Hulk easily tanks the gunfire and Thor needs to go underneath. Hulk is the heavyweight in the movies. Thor can affect him but Hulk is clearly the threat of the two.

Sure, if it seemed like Hulk was superior I understand. Just don't say the movie made it clear. The movie did NOT make it clear, which is what I really liked. Marvel treats ALL of its characters with respect.

DC, so far, only treats Batman and Superman with respect.

If "there's no one who can go up against Hulk" then I guess neither can Thanos or Odin.

According to that statement, Hulk >>>>>>> Thanos

Thanos is the most powerful character in the universe. Statements, kiddo.

Infallible Director & Creator statements >>> Fallible In Universe character statements.

Therefore Whedon's Infallible statement clearly suggests that NO ONE can go up against Hulk. Not Thor, not Odin and not Thanos.

Unless of course Whedon's statement wasn't a completely literal one, and had some kind of implied context, like maybe talking about humans and mortals going up against Hulk but excluding the obvious - (High end alien beings and Relative Immortals)... :hmm:

Are you saying that Whedon's statement isn't true?

Whedon's statement doesn't apply to Thanos the most powerful being in the universe, canon.

False. Thanos has a canon scene whereas this interview backed up the Hulk is greater than Thor in the film scene.
