Thor pissed him off and Hulk was fine. Thor was looking worse off whereas Hulk was looking better and relatively unharmed by Thor. Hulk doesn't need the hammer to avoid hitting ghr ground from that height.😂
That's toe to toe though and I fully admit toe to toe Hulk has the advantage, although Thor still got his licks in. I just don't see what Hulk could do if Thor whipped him up in a tornado "Destroyer" style. If Thor fights Hulk like he's a Destroyer level that then Thor wins.

Is pretty funny looking all Thor fanboys raging like the green monster, i think it was pretty clear in the Leviathan scene that Hulk IS the avengers big gun, that whole setpiece was made for Hulk, without him the Avengers would have lost, YES people Thor couldnt beat the Shitauri.

the discussion kinda ended but just to prove another point...if you want take whedons words about hulk as literal, you should take his on thor as literal as well. so according to "word of god", while nobody can go up against the hulk..thor is the strongest. this is just to further prove not to take everything he says as exact.
Originally posted by DARTH POWERI give that fight to Thor more than Hulk honestly. The dude landed way more hits, and the one hit Mjolnir got on Hulk almost KOed the dude. Thor was making Hulk look like a younger sibling in the beginning when he was dodging and punching (one punch made Hulk do a full 360 from the force). Thor put out way more damage that fight, and almost had Hulk unconscious. All that was in an enclosed area and almost completely without the hammer. That fight in no way went to Hulk.
Don't know what screen feat you saw, but the one I saw was a fight which kept shifting between Thor and Hulk being the favorite.Thor knocks Hulk through a wall to save BW. Dodges Hulk's punch then rocks him back with a punch. Blocks Hulk's 1 arm with both his arms trying to talk Hulk down. Then gets punched through a wall himself (upto now this was all without Mjolnir).
He then calls on Mjolnir and whacks Hulk back smashing into a Jet plane.. Hulk throws a Jet Wing at him, Thor dodges it, then floors Hulk by throwing Mjolnir at him. Hulk desperately tries to lift Mjolnir to use against Thor but completely fails.
Thor knees Hulk in the face, then jumps on his back attempting to restrain/choke out the Hulk. Thor fails the grappling attempt as Hulk leaps crashing them both through the ceiling, then throws Thor.
Fight gets stopped by fighter Jet.
^ Now to me that sounds like a fight going back and forth. However anyone with an ounce of sense no matter how biased one way or the other, can at least see Thor was "going up against the Hulk" in that fight.
Whilst that fight didn't include even a single Lightning strike or Wind Funnel by Thor. Frankly in an outdoor fight, I don't see Hulk having any solution to Thor whipping him up in a Tornado like he did to The Destroyer. So if anything, the onscreen evidence suggests that if Thor goes all out, that he's the one no one from The Avengers can go up against,
The ending fight also had Thor put in more work than anyone. He killed the most Leviathans, was the only Avenger to be shown to not be overwhelmed by the Chitauri, and was shown to be the main powerhouse of the team.
Could you imagine if they were outside and Thor had the full range of his abilities at his disposal? Could you imagine if Thor had the hammer the entire fight in the Helicarrier? It would be a full on stomp.
EDIT: Wow. Newjak actually noted a lot of my points, almost word for word. Way to be on it. 👆
