Yeah....but if Horizons reviews well, I will want to play it on the new system.

Doesn't really matter, pre-orders sold out extremely quick for PS5...due to shortages (Sony came out saying there is going to less consoles) or demand...it might next year by the time we can start buying it again.

The extra wait will be fine for me because I probably couldn't afford to buy the new playstation console right away anyway.

I will say that I'll be extremely pissed though if ES6 does not eventually come out on the PS5.

The question is this: is Bethesda games like Skyrim on equal footing with Minecraft in terms of popularity within gamers (I know Minecraft is more popular overall)....

If so.. then I can see Bethesda Software games being multi-plat. I think there is too much money to be made if they do not release on Playstation. I think it's like 30 million copies sold for Skyrim alone.

Minecraft Dungeons was released on all consoles.

I think this a huge play for Game Pass....and I would be interested if Bethesda game studios will get a shot at some interesting properties.

Well prepare to be pissed off. I wouldn’t hold your breath over that.

I won't.

Minecraft was a unique situation I think. Minecraft was basically already made and ready to go for the Playstation when MS bought it so it was too late to change that.

I think we will probably see Starfied on Playstation because that game may be pretty far into development and work has probably already been done on a Playstation version so it would make sense for MS to not want to throw out that work. But a game still extremely early in development, like ES6, will probably be at least a timed exclusive if not a full exclusive.

I just think it makes sense from a business standpoint for MS to make these games full console exclusive. MS’ biggest goal is to get people into its ecosystem and game pass. Making it so these games are only available vía said eco system would help a ton with that.

True...You are probably right. Game Pass value has just gone up.....

We basically just saw Microsoft throw it's big dick around and bought a huge publisher...with good developers and IP's. I think people tend to forgot during these console "wars" that MS is ****ing rich.

Yeah. MS doing something like this really puts into perspective that, while Sony usually wins the console war, if it wanted to MS could just buy up all the publishers and its competitors and end the war completely.

People have long expected MS to do something like this. There have been rumors of MS buying EA multiple times. Ubisoft, take two. I’m surprised it took them this long to do it, honestly.

I think it shows that MS as a whole was bought in by the “Netflix for games” strategy that Spencer has been pushing and decided to put more weight behind that.

Another interesting point is that most of these developers produced some intense singleplayer content, or at least very interesting single player games.

Complusion Games - We Happy Few
inXile Entertainment - Wasteland 3
Ninja Theory - obvious
Obsidian - obvious
Undead Labs - State of Decay 2
Double Fine Productions - obvious
Arkane Studios
Bethesda Game Studios
ID Software
Tangoworks - Evil Within
MachineGames - Wolfenstein

All of these companies are dedicated singleplayer devs...and hardcore at that.

Then you have Playground Games (Forza Horizon and Fable) and The Initiative (new studio by Crystal Dynamics studio head) supposedly filled with industry veterans and I remember reading a few number from God Of War developer (they are located in the same city) as well.

That's a fair number of SP games.....and talent.

Yeah MS is really stepping up this generation. I’m happy to see it.

Linked to the MS store though.

People made such a big deal about going from Steam to Epic. Aren't most gamers even more about hating on the MS store?

That’s a good point. There will probably be an outcry if they tie the PC release of these games to the MS store.

Aside from the fact that Microsoft is releasing their titles on Steam.
Including the Halo Infinite. If they releasing that platform, it's very likely they would release all ZeniMax games on the same platform.

If you search Xbox Game Studios, you will see a huge list of Microsoft titles..including all the major ones.

I don't think Microsoft is going to force players to use the MS store if they want to be the game outright. However, they will clearly promote their PC titles on PC Game Pass...or Game Pass Ultimate. I have been using PC Game Pass and I haven't had issues.

Oh infinite is releasing on steam? That’s good. Maybe they’ve abandoned Trying to force their store down consumers throats

Yeah...

Almost no one cares that Epic produced games are restricted to the Epic store, the big problem is when they give money to developers to restrict the games they did not produce to their store.

I think that is what's going to happen. The mainstays will be multi-plat but with an emphasis on Game Pass. Any smaller titles will be exclusive to Xbox and PC.

Oh, Playstation fans are back to hoping that Sony buys Konami (an earlier rumor) and others after today's news... Some of these people just learned nothing from Disney buying a certain big chunk of the entertainment industry, feels like.

Sony buying Konami or at least their properties would undeniably be a good thing because then we’d get new, probably good games in franchises that otherwise are now dead because Konami has no interest in making new games in those franchises.

I mean, anyone buying Konami could result in it being better than its current state. With Sony though I probably wouldn't like it because of the exclusivity.

I'm more so referring to fans who fancy the idea of Sony buying the likes of Square Enix, Capcom, and things so they can have some Japanese monopoly, but they prolly overestimate how much money Sony actually has, compared to like Microsoft anyway.
