Current Gen Console Discussions (PS5, Xbox Series X, Switch (Pro?) OFFICIAL THREAD

Wii U is dead.

Nintendo simply can't compete with the power and social features that are being brought by Microsoft and Sony.

I'm glad that the controller is mostly unchanged, nothing like the radical/silly fanmade concept art controllers that have been posted across the internet.

The console itself looks streamlined, if unimaginative--it actually looks more like a box than the original Xbox. It also looks as if it can survive being dropped from a rooftop--but I'm not going to test that 😛

I'm not too crazy about the name--if you're going to give it a number you should call it the Three, or the 720, or avoid numbers altogether. What is the One supposed to signify?

Pretty sure it's the one I'm going to get.

It's all-in-one!

The impression I got from that announcement:

SPORTS SPORTS SPORTS SPORTS we'll have new IPs! HALO! SPORTS SPORTS SPORTS oh yes and CALL OF DUTY you have a dog and look arm hair!

Also, there's this.

Nope. See ya later, MS, not touching this one at all.

Looks Like its just going to be halo, halo, and what ever dignity that fable has left for Xbox one.

None of the consoles look appealing thus far.

I've never been a PC elitist douche, but I really am glad that I've reached the point in my life where I have a job and can afford to be a PC gamer.

Pretty much. That bit about how you can only use a disk once without paying is ghey as all hell.

I loved the multitasking angle but this upsets me so I don't know if I want it or not now. This is a big issue for me....

lol

Yeah, I'm glad that I've switched over to PC for the most part.

I will say that watching my twitter feed was more entertaining than the announcement itself. So much snark. It was great.

Looks like they did a better job with the d-pad than on the 360 at least.. But I'm kinda Halo'ed out at this point, Fable is meh, and Gears I don't think I would touch again after Judgment. Prolly the only way I would really support MS again is if they made more use of some of the Rareware IPs.

Sucks about the used games thing being true, not that it would really affect me.

My main concern is reliability and basic gameplay. What worries me is that the Xbox One is apparently going to infuse Kinect into everything. That's cool and all, but I don't want to have to rely on that kind of motion sensing technology to do everything. Where reliability is concerned you can't beat a controller connected directly to your console by a wire, a controller that doesn't rely on any external features or motion sensing to function.

From what I read, they are going to release details about used games. It's still a rumour.

My take is that you will install the game on the 360, and the game will be attached to your username. That's my guess. Basically how Steam works. If you buy a used game, you pay a fee to unlock the game. My guess some of that fee will go to the developers/publishers. This could also make used games a bit cheaper, or that you gut less money from a game.

My main issue with that would be that my girlfriend and I often play the same game on our accounts. If it was tied to one account and we couldn't do that, I wouldn't like that.

But, I'll be waiting for more info before freaking out.

Yeah, that would suck as well. I'm wondering how it will all work out.

Again, I'm just guessing. It could be that it's tied to the console and accounts, which would allow everybody on that console to play the game and allow you to play the game at a friend's house. That's how XLBA works right?

I would be very annoyed if I can't play my game on a friend's console because I do it a lot.

EDIT: I will say that Skype on a television through a device I already own for video gaming is freaking awesome. Also, I'm intrigue about the cable TV because I want to get rid of cable in my house and if I can pay some sort of subscription and be allowed to watch shows and channels without being gorge with TV packages, I'm totally in.

YouTube video

lol

Holy shit, Joes acting like a whiney douche.

Frowny face.

Thought the presentation was underwhelming. Too much time spent talking about watching TV through the device, which I don't care about. Not enough about games.

The new controller looks nice.

And I don't give two shits about used games, so that's a non issue for me.

New COD looked like COD with good graphics.

Forza is always good so it's pretty cool that that will be a launch title.

The PS4 presentation was better.

So much for the used games BS. That's good, and to think most of us were all so quick to believe it. Guilty as charged myself.

Anyway, I'll wait to see what new IPs or whatever they show for the Xbox One at E3 before I make any final decision on it.
