One part that is funny.
Is when he goes, "Screw you low income family" because they can't afford Internet yet can afford a $400 console and $60 games.
In a few years, the whole "needs Internet to connect" will die down. Also funny is when people go, "I'm just going to get a PC", which means they are getting Steam or GOG, which needs the Internet. And use the Internet to complain about the XBOX One needing the Internet.

This argument fails to me.
You paint them as hypocrites but that is not really what is happening.
If you are going to push a console that works like a PC, acts like a PC, has requirements to operate like a PC, why not just forgo the console and play your games on PC?
"Always on connection? **** you: I'm going to PC: the original and better 'always on connection' console."

Most games on PC don't even have to be always on. But consoles are more convenient.

I disagree. My PC is more convenient as it is "always on", literally. So I just step into my office, double click the icon, and I'm already playing the game.
I mean...you could leave your console always on but it will not last nearly as long if you treat it that way. Unless these new consoles have awesome breathing systems to keep them cool?
Add in the laptop with an air card and you can game just about anywhere, online. And decent laptops are definitely more durable and portable than consoles.
"But teh costs!" That's a valid argument. Consoles will cost less than the PCs for the same performance...for about 2 years. 🙂 Then you can build a decent system with more capabilities than a console for around the same costs (lulz).
Honestly, I see MS making a lot of changes to these plans before the console is released. I don't think they can ignore the backlash. Well, they can, but they'd be stupid if they did.
I expect the time between online checks to be extended to maybe a few days or a week, if not removed completely, and I think the amount of times you can lend a game to a friend will be bumped from 1 to maybe 3 or 5.
Would give them some decent press before release and allow them to say "We listened to your feedback and made the following changes because we care about what our customers want" or what not.

Well, what about the emotional cost of having to use Windows though?
I agree: if you're used to using almost every other OS out there (most especially iOS, Mac OSX, and most flavors of Linux), the joy of being able to interface with one of the best OS's of all time would make it rather distracting from the gaming. You'd be too busy enjoying what a real OS should be like.

Heh. You should be their PR person or something. They could make loads off of your ideas. 🙂

Bardock, your retort?
