Well hell, I didn't expect to get called out. Three years past next-gen consoles was embellishment, and my computer is almost two years old now (not all parts, but most). But it's good.i7 processor, 3.80GHz
A 600GB HD that runs at 10K rpms (as opposed to the standard 7,200)
8GB RAM
...I'd have to dig a bit more on my video card. I honestly forget, but it's similar in relative quality to the specs above. And my board can handle more RAM, but I haven't needed that much for anything and barely use my 8GB now, so there's been no need to upgrade....so, fairly comparable. I know the XBox One comes with 8GB RAM and 500GB HD. And the processor is an 8-core, so it's actually probably a small step up from mine. But I don't know the other specs. I was kinda just guessing, since high-end computers have always tended to be 2-3 years ahead of consoles. The fact that my rig was available 2 years ago for a reasonable price (and probably 4 years ago for a higher price), and will be closer to 3 years old by the time One launches, kinda makes my point though. There are experiences the console can bring that computers have a hard time emulating, but the tech potential has always been >>> on self-built desktops.
AMD Radeon HD 6900 Series graphics card. 2GB RAM, 256-bit, circa 900MHz Core Clock. I'll be honest and say I'm not sure what some of that translates to in gaming terms, I can build my own rig but I'm not that much of a tech-head with this stuff. But I googled the specs and wanted to include it for completion's sake on the post above.
Anyway yeah, your computer is probably better than or equal to next-gen consoles.. crazy huh.
Kind of glad I joined the master race. I played Just Cause 2 on PS3 for two years until I finished every settlement so I was pretty used to the graphics. I bought JC2 on amazon this past week and fired it up on my computer.. absolutely blown away by how much better it looked. Same game, but much smoother framerates and had small graphical effects - lighting, reflections, shiny cars, etc - that made it that much better.

Ah, right. I heard that the PS4 has a GPU roughly comparable to the HD 7850 (I have one - it's a great card, but was high-midend last year).Anyway yeah, your computer is probably better than or equal to next-gen consoles.. crazy huh.

Looking at your sig, the same experience in difference can be had with Bioshock: Infinite. On PC, the difference in appearance is just stupid. In fact, I'd say playing it on the 360 is sacrilegious because of how much better it looks on PC. It's like looking at a black and white version of a Rembrandt: not cool, bro.

I'm considering getting Bioshock: Infinite. I'll be excited to play on my rig.
I actually built my cpu to play Skyrim, but it's had benefits with other stuff. Particularly, the RAM comes in handy when I'm working from home and, say, using 3-4 different design programs at the same time (usually Adobe programs like Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Premiere, etc.). Sh*t's pretty RAM-intensive, so it's made my life far easier than it would be otherwise. My work computer only had 2GB until recently (6 as of last month, thank goodness), so working from home was a godsend.

He's shedding tears of joy. The day I support DRM is the day I'm not a gamer.
Should be thankful for not being a PC gamer for the current stuff then
also there's better ways to do it without using DRM
Serious Sam 3 if pirated you had to deal with a pink unkillable scorpion.

MS is in a tough spot. If they go ahead and release the One WITH the DRM, it'll sell horribly. If they delay the launch to early 2014, Sony will have launched the PS4 by then, and (hopefully) Nintendo will have released a steady lineup of great games for the Wii U.

Nothing really. I'm just hating. By all means I hope Nintendo has a great lineup, and if they do have one I hope they can continue doing that for the next few years. I'm just so salty over the Wii having so few good non-first party games. TBH I never bought the Wii because I knew Nintendo wouldn't get third party support. It infuriates me.
MS has released details on various topics about Xbox One, including used games and always online.

The most interesting part is how they're doing used games. They basically punted it to the publishers of the individual games to decide whether or not they are allowing their games to be resold. MS will take no fee from the transaction.
Also of interest is the fact that you can lend a game to a friend one time only, and they must be on your friends list for at least 30 days before they can play your game.
Finally, not surprisingly, confirmation that digital releases will release the same day as the physical copies are available. I've been waiting for this. I will probably buy all my games digitally next gen. Definitely good news (unless you're Gamestop).
