Current Gen Console Discussions (PS5, Xbox Series X, Switch (Pro?) OFFICIAL THREAD

It's not perfect by no means but at least MS has gotten the hardware part of the console down pat. The Kinect works really well, it's almost silent, and from people who broke it down, will probably not overheat.

Unlike the 360, which I always felt was going to blow up, the XBOX One feels solid. I don't notice when using it.

Everything else is software based and can be patched or improved through software updates.

I wouldn't mind seeing MS bring back local accounts instead of making people sign up to XBOX Live. While the console does have guest accounts, you don't get that cool sign-in feature when somebody walks into a room. But I do understand why they make people use their XBOX Live accounts, it's awesome that you can sign into a friends console and then start earning achievements if you are playing with a friend. And having the ability for your start up screen on somebody else console is good as well.

But I still like to have local accounts so a friend who does not have Live or an Xbox can sign as well.

As for the the CLOUD!!!!, driveatars in Forza are pretty cool and fun to drive against. I was taking a corner on one of the tracks and the driveatar behind me passed me on the short side by taking a fair bit of the corner. You would never see that in previous car games. Also, having two drivaters crash and then muddle up everybody is freaking sweet.

Glad your enjoying your new console, Smas. Sounds pretty cool.

Have you tried the new Killer Instinct? That's actually probably the Xbone launch game I'm most interested in hearing about.

My friend and I played it.

I'm not into fighting games but my friend (who is) enjoyed it and got pretty efficient in it. It looks really good and it's really fluid, no slowdown at all.

Other than that, I can't really say anything about it. If you take it as a free-to-play game then you might not get annoyed about the lack of features. But it's nice to be able to try it without paying for it.

In my opinion, with all titles being able to buy online through stores, MS should make it mandatory for developers/publishers to have free demo's. They do on their Windows Phone platform.

PS4 is having the same problem. Not many of the games have demos available right now, which is kinda lame. As far as I can tell the only ones with Demos are Fifa and NBA Live.

I don't even know how to search for demo's. hahaha.

Xbox search for demos

IE is standard with Xbox, which sucks. Otherwise everything else sounds good.

Well, it's unrealistic to expect Chrome?

Trying to compare IE on the Xbox One is unfair considering the browser is tailored made for the console.

While I use Chrome myself, IE 11 is one of the better browser out there and if you replace IE with another name, people wouldn't bad mouth it.

I have been playing AC4 and I'm really enjoying it. Compare the graphics to AC3 on the 360, and you can see how much better the new generation can be.

It might not be as big of a difference than previous generations but in AC4, everything is so fluid/smooth, highly detailed and the effects are fantastic. This is what we will see with this upcoming generation. Extremely detailed worlds with no slowdown and hopefully, no load times.

There is one thing I hope MS does is the ability to start you TV and stereo system when you say, XBOX Turn On, or turn them all off when you say XBOX Turn Off.

I would love to see the new Mass Effect on the PS4/XB1. If would be freaking amazing if there isn't any load times.......

I can actively dislike IE while still maintaining the console has some strengths. IE has lagged behind Chrome and Mozilla for years and is rubbish. It lacks AdBlock, it runs slow as hell, and earlier versions were susceptible to security issues. Maybe the newest version runs great with an optimized Xbox and if so, awesome. It'd be nice to be wrong on this point. Personally, I'm not a gamer who has tons of room or an internet connection where my Xbox 360 is now, so all this is just informing myself for the future.

PS4 will likely get the Japanese third party support I can't get on my PC, so that's the biggest concern right now.

IE11 is on par with Chrome/Firefox now.

But it doesn't really matter because you can't change the browser on the XB1 and the browser on it is tailored made for it.

Latter point noted, and I never contested it. However, if you want to claim that it's "on par" with Chrome/Firefox, at least read the comments in the link you provided:
1. BOTTOM LINE
It's major drawback is that it doesn't support add-ons and I'm referring to Pocket, Ghostery, LastPass and AdBlock Plus.

ABP filter subscriptions are supported by Tracking Protection feature, Pocket provides a bookmarklet and LastPass has an add-on for IE but none of them are even close to what they offer to Firefox and Chrome users.

2. Since loading internet Explorer 11 on my Windows 7 latop, my Gmail doesn't fire up properly. After putting in the email address and password I get the blue scroll bar as it says loading (my email account) but the scroll bar only gets about 80% of the way and hangs.
A workaround is then to click on the 'Home' (picture of house) icon near the top right hand corner of the screen.

3. Still no sync after all these years??? Chrome and Firefox have had it. Shows that the dopes are still running Microsoft Product. No vision, no customer focus.

4. I go to a state website, and must use IE10 or less to access. Since I upgraded to IE11, (it was set to automatic update) I cannot access the website, (incompatible browser). I tried to rollback, but the system still identifies me as having an incompatible browser. Since this is a state website, the chance of them upgrading to Windows 7, is basically nil for years to come. Thanks a lot for not being backward compatible, or having the ability to remove IE11 to the point that it is really IE10 only.
That doesn't sound like a ringing endorsement. The last comment could benefit from multiple browser use, which is wise for any person on PC these days (because of all kinds of incompatibility) but overall IE trails behind the competition like Origin trails behind Steam.

It's kind of a derailment at this point anyways, since who the hell is doing anything serious on a console web browser? Look up "gamefaqs.com" and such as needed, use tablet/phone/calculator/crystal ball for the rest.

So it was about a week of gaming before my controller lost it's charge. Probably about 25 hours or so. I have the charger as well. I think it took about 15 minutes or so to charge.

Also, I used to watch all Netflix on my PS3. Since I had to change it out with the Xbox One and the difference between network speed for streaming is ridiculous. On the PS3, 50% of the movie would be shit quality. On the Xbox Live, I thought I was watching a slightly less quality Blu Ray. Either I'm imaging things or all those extra servers are making a huge difference.

The battery life with the dual shock 4 is one of the more disappointing aspects of the PS4. It's pretty short at about 8 hours or so, even less if you have a headset plugged in through the DS4.

I gotta say, though, I've not really noticed a difference in quality between streaming on my PS3, Xbox 360 or PS4. They all seem about the same to me.

Meh. I get the same thing after I recharge my 360 controller so I'm used to it.

Which is strange considering the PS3 controller was fairly good when it came to battery life. I guess it's that touchpad.

8 hours is pretty weak though.

Very weak.

So Microsoft finally made their controllers rechargeable... thank god.

They didn't.

It still uses batteries. You have to buy the Plug + Charge kit.

It sucks.

Yep. Pretty damn ridiculous. :/

Luckily, my charge kit came in yesterday so I shouldn't have to worry about it anymore.

I think 8 hours is more than enough time...but I can't play video games for more than 2-3 hours at a time.
