It does kind of suck that I bought an Xbox One with a Kinect but I use it for Skype mostly. It works really well and a family that uses Skype to converse with relatives overseas, it's almost a must. You can get your entire family in the same shot, it's high quality and the software allows the system to pinpoint who is talking. It's really quite neat.
I also like the voice commands. They might not work the first time but it is still faster than turning on the controller and navigating that way. I run while watching Netflix and I can get my treadmill/shoes all ready to go and by using voice commands, I can do two things at the same time. As well, having the console turn on my stereo reciever and TV is pretty neat.
Anyways, it's a good move. I want to get a PS4 soon (once Uncharted 4 gets released) but I still think Xbox One has better exclusives that I'm interested in.
I agree. Between third part titles, it won't make a difference. PS4 might be more smooth but I don't see developers making a massive effort to increase the graphics for it.
In first party titles, you will see a difference, especially later on in the lifecycle. But again, does it matter? Not in my opinion.
Some people think that the Xbox One graphics will be sooo shit but that's untrue.
But in truth im pretty sure the xbone is capable of 1080p. To my knowledge Forza 5 does in fact run at 1080p. I think its all on the developers not being able to properly utilize it yet.
Either way good graphics on consoles are a good thing but not really what sells them. If someone is buying a console based on the best graphics they should just go to PC. I wanted the Xbone for its multitasking and I liked the game selection much better. Not to mention my gamerscore. It had a lot less to do with my decision but I would have been sad to lose the 82k+ after so much time put in.
I really hate everytime I look up sites to check the latest gaming news, someone constantly keeps posting articles the PS4 version of third party games can run on 1080p while the Xbox One version is lucky to run on 790p. As someone who grew up playing the Sega and Super Nintendo, I don't give a shit what number is next to that p. I can still see the game on my screen can I? And I'm glad it's just been reported Watch Dogs on consoles won't run on 1080p so maybe now those who give the Xbone shit for it's resolution will quit waving their dicks. I only bought the PS4 because it was cheaper and didn't have any questionable devices with it. It had nothing to do with it being more powerful. Now that the Kinect is stripped, I may consider getting it after all but it depends on whether Halo 5 and future exclusives will be any good.
Im glad to see we have a consensus. I too couldn't care less about the resolution. I went PS4 because it was cheaper and had the neat PS plus free games and Netflix and the other apps didn't need the subscription. Not to mention I didn't care about the Kinect and thus was very wary of MS's aim for the console. Now all of that is gone and we have a PS4.2 lol. Lots of copying, but I honestly don't blame them. I say copy what works. Just like the PS4 felt more similar to a 360 than a PS3 control and OS architecture wise. Another thing that made me want the PS4 was the fact I didn't have a Sony console for 4 years after my PS3 died, and I found myself missing a lot of exclusives I wanted to play.
If only Nintendo was more willing to listen to the fans like MS and Sony. *Sigh* I'd buy a true next/current gent Nintendo console in a heartbeat.
Resolutions are only flame console wars. And this mythical 1080p that supposedly all games should get is kind of annoying as well.
As long as it's smooth with a playable frame rate, I couldn't care less. A 30FPS is not that bad either. I remember the original Crysis played really well at 30FPS. It matters if the frame rate is stable.

I love it though. Kind of helps keep my reactions and instincts in shape for Titanfall's already insanely fast paced gameplay/mayhem.
The one thing that got me was when playing at higher than 30fps in some games, because it was smoother, it was also faster, and it felt like I had to adjust the speed I played the game at just to keep up.Granted it's rare, but it was interesting to experience.
PC master race.
