We'd like to steer away from making the next game such that skilled players will win, but unskilled players will lose almost instantaneously," Tsujimoto said..

As a means to achieve that (prevent unskilled players from losing instantaneously), Capcom is looking into possibly implementing some kind of pay-for-advantage system in Street Fighter 5 that will allow new players to cover for their lack of skill in matches.

Much like this:

Capcom and Nintendo need to go kill themselves.

I think Nintendo has slowly, but surely, been taking online/the core audience more seriously. Last year, they unified the Eshop balance. They've also allowed voice chat in Mario Kart 8, and allowed you to upload your highlight reels to YouTube. They're catering to the competitive Smash community in the latest Smash. Splatoon is their own version of an online multiplayer shooter.

Oh, and Bayonetta 2 will have online co-op.

Well at least they're getting it now, when they could've just easily made Bayonetta 2 local/couch co-op only. Finally a step in the right direction they're taking.

They are 10 years behind, but that is better than nothing.

Apparently, Splatoon already has a big fanbase.

The only thing Nintendo is behind on is online.

The thing I don't understand is how Nintendo can be forward thinking at times (Miiverse, Direct, the Treehouse stream), and behind on online.

Sorry to double post, but would you say online is the main thing Nintendo is behind on? Because until the Wii, Nintendo's consoles were on par with the competition.

Graphics as well.

They might of been on par with the competition before the Wii (which was 8 years ago) but that doesn't mean much anymore.

So did The Conduit.

Nintendo fans be starved

😂

Yeah... 😬 I mean, honestly. Honestly. Is it too much to ask for some decent ****ing third-party support?

Like I said earlier, if Nintendo had third party support, they'd be unstoppable.

They won't.

Too much competition and most core gamers (the guys who play sports/CoD) don't want to touch Nintendo.

Sorry, did you just say the people who play CoD/sports games are core gamers? I had to laugh at that. That's as casual as you get.

The producer for CoD himself said that he doesn't consider CoD players to be core gamers.

I agree. I don't consider them core gamers, but then again I don't really agree with the whole core/casual gamer thing.

I have casual gamers who play iOs and Wii Sports.

Core gamers who play sports games, shooters and such.

And hardcore gamers who play pretty much anything.

Maybe now but if their console sold more it would work out fine. It's all about getting the penetration. For example giving the wii sales, good 3rd party support would have done a lot.

I would agree on that.

But who thinks that the Wii audience would of bought the Wii U? It was a massive success because non gamers bought it. For example, my brother bought it because he liked Wii Sports. He never bought any games and just play golf on it. He didn't even know the Wii U existed.

It's unlikely that Nintendo can get that market again.

So did The Conduit.

Conduit was a painfully average shooter that desperate fanbois were hoping would be a "Halo killer". Splatoon at least looks uniquely fun to some level, though.

And among those people that did know it existed they just thought the Wii U was the name of the gamepad controller...which people seemed to think was for the Wii.

Plus you have the gamers that that did buy a Wii who didn't want a Wii U because they already had their "party game" system. Who wants a new console to play Wii golf when you can already play it on the Wii lol. Sure there was the 1080p appeal to the WiiU but people who buy a Wii don't care about the graphics as it is so that didn't help them any.
