You might want to Google 'into darkness reviews' to get my point about it being 'hilarious' that critics 'tear into' films. Your beloved film got more than its fair share of crap reviews.

I tend not to dwell on critics' opinions for these kinds of movies as sci-fi and comic book and big action movies tend not to be to the tastes of most media and especially newspaper film journalists tastes. It's akin to when they write about video games and other aspects of cultures not aimed at them.

You're right though. Fanboys will be fanboys regardless if the film is entertaining or not. Thankfully I'm not. Preferred Reeves superman 1 and 3 over 2 because I find Zod and his crew a bit boring. Quest for peace was laughably bad and rightly panned from critics and fans alike. A lot of people totally hate Returns but I think it had its merits as well as its flaws.
