Instead its Zods daughter, who boned Superman after meeting him twice so they clearly have a special relationship making the betrayal extra stingy. She's ultimately a boring as shit villain though so she'll be killed off anti-climatically anyway.

Only change I would maybe make to that is "Zod's daughter" would be revealed to actually be a clone of Faora, then all the fans who drooled over her in the first film will defend MoS 3 to the death.

Conversely, Clark Kent might end up being the strongest opponent of Superman in print by pointing out his own failings in a way no one else has access to.Lois writes up the pro-Superman pieces and Clark, being the guy that he is, perhaps writes up article after article that are essentially him criticizing himself for not doing enough. Lois might ignore the deaths of 5 firefighters who died during a chemical fire to talk about how great Superman is, Clark would probably agonize over the keyboard that despite his presence, brave men and women still died because of Superman's inability to save them and go into detail about their actions leading up to their deaths and play down the Superman component.
It could help foster a sort of Lex/Clark friendship in this franchise, as perhaps initially they see one another sharing a dismissive attitude of the godlike nature of Superman, but from different perspectives and to different extremes.

Just busting balls. I'd like to have Darkseid as the main evil, but behind the scenes for MoS 2 & 3. So Doomsday could work in that facet, as the muscle working for a greater evil purpose. (Basically ripping off Avengers and Thanos)
Then have Darkseid all the way for a Justice League flick.
edit: Bizarro and Lobo both need to stay away from the MoS franchise and if they do a JL series, from that too.
