**** Superman Reeve.

I love the guy and his performance as Superman is part of my childhood and I will always cherish it and he was an inspiration, but it is time to move on.

No worries Zack in 20 years or so the generation that loved chris reeves will be dead, and then you wont have to listen to his fans, but till then just live with it bro, just like the chris reeve fans have to live with the fact that MOS's superman was totally different from Christopher reeves version. In fact in 20 years there will be a new superman replacing henry cavil, a new and different superman in which you may not like and may complain about hehe.

Not sure if this is appropriate but since everyone seems to have watched Man of Steel I though this review video of sorts would be entertaining

I may complain lol. I am not gonna try and see the future, but I will always try to keep an open mind to different interpretation of characters and not just focus on one version.

I think comics and all the different takes on the larger than life characters helped me with that.

And TBH I am not mad at Reeve fans or anything. I just sometimes say stuff like "**** Random Whatever the topic is" instead of going into essays on what I think lol. I'm lazy like that.

Great movie, I like it 🙂

I love Superman, the franchise, the character. I was very excited for the latest attempt to bring the ultimate superhero to the big screen. I wasn't disappointed, but I wasn't super thrilled. It underperformed at the box office, which is too bad because Henry Cavill was amazing. With these slight improvements, the film would've been better overall:

#5: Re-cast Lois Lane. I love Amy Adams but not here. She's too doe-eyed to play a hardscrabble reporter -- and (ahem) brunettes anyone? We're talking Lois Lane, not Lucille Ball! Adams and Cavill lacked chemistry. And the "measuring dicks" line was totally misplaced. We need a feisty -- but likable (and believable) -- tomboy Lois Lane character. One we root for.

#4: Lose the struggle over his powers. Does he use them, does he not use them? We paid 40 bucks to sit here not so Superman could watch his Earth dad die! Hello, save the poor farmer already! What is he Jesus? Samantha on "Bewitched"? Let the hero be the superhero!

#3: Bring back the family-comedy. That's what was great about Christopher Reeve's versions. There was cheeseball comedy. There is nothing wrong with classic humor, like Superman trying to find a phone booth to change and finding a half-phone booth and making do. Why not poke fun at the fact there are no phone booths anymore? Make it a family film. Double your B.O. You cannot bring little kids to this. Can we just not have Superman Christopher Nolan-ized? There. I said it. He's not Batman. He's Superman.

#2: Forget flashbacks. We had no emotional connection to the story other than the flashbacks. They were OK, but it left the present lacking. Give us a real story to sink our teeth into. What is Superman like? What does he do during the day?

#1: Downplay the villain. We've seen them all before. I get tired of going to superhero movies where the director falls in love with his villain and the superhero gets short shrift. That might be fine for Spider-Man, but not Superman. Nobody cares about Lex. Or Zod. Zod was boring, and he had too many cliché bad-guy monologues. My favorite roll-the-eyes line moment was when he said, "This is going to end with one of us dying." Really, I thought it was going to end with both of you becoming Facebook friends!

They got close. There were some magical moments. Superman is not just your run of the mill superhero, he's Superman. He deserves a super movie.

I agree. They should follow all five of his points. I do disagree with some of it, I found Zod interesting for example, but to much time was spent on him IMO.

the only one i agree with is #5.

The rest of her points are pure idiocy. This is just one of many reviews I've read that proves my theory that the majority of the people who dislike the movie do so because they're comparing it to the Reeve movies.

Eh, I found the flashbacks grating TBH. They seemed to pop up randomly and if they want to continue to incorporate them they should be integrated better.

I guess I do disagree with 3, it really doesn't need that kind of humor although I would appreciate a lighter tone in the sequel. But the rest I feel would make the film better.

this person who wrote that is an idiot..

Superman is not a comedy.. it worked back then except part 3, now there is no need for comedy in a Superman film..

Kal struggling with his powers is appropriate for someone who uses them the very first time.. in Man of Steel 2 depending on the time frame i fully expect Kal to have fully mastered his powers/abilities

another dumb frack who has never seen a chris nolan film, those flashbacks were fine, that idiot who wrote this drivel should have paid attention to what was being said

Downplay the villain?? WTF??? The person needs to be reminded that sometimes the villain is the best thing about a film.. Not saying Zod was the best thing about Man of Steel but Shannon's Zod was great

I'll have to say point #5 is possible the only one of the points that makes sense. And even then what was wrong with Amy Adams other than her being blonde and having to deal with the forced romance?

The other four just sound like pro-Reeve Superman complaints.

The size of people's nostalgia glasses over the Reeves films must be even bigger than the ridiculous glasses Reeves' Clark Kent himself wore. My God.

saran wrap colored glasses.

Surprised?

He revolutionized the character and made him a household favorite for years to come.

What did you expect?

I'm not surprised at all, I know love for the Reeve movies is a reason people didn't like MoS, and I'm calling those people biased and dumb.

Doesn't change the fact people are just living in the past with him now.

I found the flashbacks very effective and I really liked them.

I bet most of them haven't seen the Reeve movies in a long time. If they did they would realize those movies are far from perfect.

I know that. I been reading the whining from you and others about people comparing this Superman to MOS.

There dumb, biased, don't know the comics, blah, blah, blah.

You guys sound upset.

That is what people do they compare the new to classics.

"revolutionised" is a pretty strong word.

You disagree?

Yes. Superman the Movie did nothing nearly to that level for Superman. He was a fairly accurate deception of the character at the time. By contrast, the Dark Knight Returns revolutionized Batman.
