Disney acquires Lucasfilm; Episode VII proposed for 2015

So I've come across several discussions on different articles as to whether or not we will be seeing Hamill, Fisher, and Ford back to reprise their roles.

All I've heard is that it will be "an original story" so I'm not even sure if the casting would require that.

I have to say though, of the three, the only one I would really like to see back would be Mark Hamill. I think it would come across as very believable having him in the role of a wise Jedi mentor, considering how he's aged between now and then.

I can't wrap my mind around seeing Ford and Fischer back in any capacity. I'm just not sure where they could go with that. Yes, they both have aged as well, but to me it makes sense having Hamill back because of it. It would totally fit.

Unless they are planning on starting immediately after ROTJ....then I guess they would just recast everyone.

I'd prefer it if they all came back. At least in some capacity. Like I said earlier, a Jedi Academy type scenario with the occasional cameo from Luke as the Grand Master would be okay.

its just not a good recipe to make a sequel after the big crescendo where the bad guys are just the same old henchmen minus the all-powerful god-head and the good guys have grown in power. that saps the whole element of suspense.

:edit: it would imho be like making LotR 4: hunt or the remaining orcs, trolls, and goblins. fun huh?

There's plenty of things to write about in a Jedi Academy scenario. They don't have to be going after the empire, anymore. And in my scenario, the empire should be all but gone.

If the Empire's been disassembled in the new films, I hope they at least address just what happened after Palpatine's death. Robot Chicken said it best:

But the rebels won, remember? No resolution after RotJ is needed to settle what happened with the Empire.

did you just quote yourself?

How about a movie where the remnants of the Empire invent time travel, and send a cyborg assassin disguised as a human. Its mission is to kill Queen Amidala because her off spring are future leaders of the resistance.

Pure cinematic gold.

Hot Damn I'm a genius!

It would be nice to see everyone back, just not sure what they could do with old Han & Leia. But I could totally see them using old Luke.

I can't wait until we hear something about the casting. That might be a little while though.

Thinking about it, it just wouldn't work having Ford, Hamill and Fisher reprise their roles. They've left it far too late for a sequel trilogy, and they're careers - no offence, dried up long ago. Ford - Only in the last ten years, but again, they've left it too late. The only thing worse however is recasting all three, so i'm not in favor of anything Disney has planned in regards to VII, VIII & IX.

I doubt Disney knows where they're going at this point in time; that's probably one idea out of many being tossed around in the Disney exec room.

I'm pretty sure that the cogs have been spinning on this way before the public was intro'd to the recent formal announcement. Years back maybe. That's why they confidently talk about a 2015 release date. They most likely have more done than we think.

I imagine casting wrapping up within half a year.

The whole thing of Fisher and Hamill having lunch with Lucas. (not sure if it was this last August, or last years August?)

That raises questions.

Why would he tell them if they are not involved?

hmmmmm

Maybe they're friends?

He told them a YEAR ago....

its not certain that his plans then are the same as what disney plans now

timeline abridged:

late 2011- GL and hammil fisher discuss sequels

early 2012- GL butthurt and rage quits hollywood

present- disney buys LFL, announces new trilogy

its possible that GL dropped his own plans and disney made their own after the purchase. hardly a coincidence that both sets of plans wouild be for a "new trilogy".

so yes, lets consider all possibilities

They did continue on fighting the remants of the Empire that are scattered around the galaxy with those X-Wing Novels

but yeah since Disney has supposedly said Nope were not touching the EU, Going to have to address what happen to the rest of it with the new movies which Lord Lucien brought up.
