Henry Jones was introduced as an old man, at it's all we ever see him as. Indy was introduced as... well, Indiana F*cking Jones, whom they turned in to grandpa. Bad decision.

Yea, but a cool grandpa. Thus Indy is still cool, just to a different age group.

You mean millions of dollar signs? Artistically, there's no need. Financially, ofcourse. It's not going to end well...

Pretty sure Eps 1-6 were made with the intention of making money and they just weren't making films for the sake of making films, like some crappy art house film done by a couple first year film students.

IMO, it's too early to have such dire predictions, considering Disney has done right by some franchises they're purchased, we don't know where they're going with the story yet and we've not seen any kind of artwork, scripts, promos etc.

Whilst this is true, GL could have made EP. VII himself for financial reasons and declined on artistic grounds.

No, you're right. But i don't see a reason to hype it up this time around. We all got burnt with the Prequels, so to be cautious is understandable. Not to mention the bar will inevitably be set lower because of them.

My jaw hit the floor today, hearing that blurb on the radio that Harrison Ford might be interested in returning to Han Solo, if the others (Hamill and Fisher) are in. After decades of saying he's done with the character, seeing this is now in different hands... 😱

They're just too damn old! Heck Harrison Ford is OLDER than Ian McDiarmid!

But Mathew Vaughn being considered to direct is exciting.

But I just don't want to see this trio back as old farts. It would seriously ruin my memory of those characters.

If you want to use these three characters then re-cast. It will be OK! But if they insist it has to be the same actors, then just use Mark Hamill/Luke as a supporting role. Like Old Ben in ANH.

Why does it seem everyone is against the idea of Fisher and Ford returning, yet they are okay with Hamill?

Fisher looks horrible! I don't want the image of Princess Leia turned into that tbh..

But more seriously, if you have Hamill as an aged Jedi Master, Grand Master of the Order, taking over Old Ben and/or Yoda's role then there's really no issue with his age.

But if your going to bring back the aged trio, uuughhh that would be horrible.

Like I said Harrison Ford IS ACTUALLY OLDER than Ian McDiarmid! And A LOT OLDER than Ian was in the PT.

I mean seriously who wants to see that? And have the image of the classic trio ruined like that!?

Like I said Mark Hamill on his own as a supporting role would be fine. But if you want to use all 3, then please re-cast. That's my opinion anyway.

nothing against them. it just locks the sequel in near-future which imho will be very limiting

Or even better do a Old Republic related movie set long before the movies, No need to worry about hiring the actors reprising their characters.

If they're making more movies then I personally think it would be a crime to not show what happens post ROTJ. And never to see Luke as a true Jedi Master.

Also they've just done the past, so I doubt many people would want to see more prequels as of now.

Yeah, I tire of the Old Republic era now.

how could you tire of an era that was never filmed?

👆

But that is probably another trilogy that they will eventually do.

I meant with all the comic books and computer games out there, I've had enough of this era for now. It's like if they said, we'll do a movie set between AOTC & ROTS, I'd be thinking, this is all so played now, do something else.

For all those begging for recast, has there been any news about Ford, Hamil, and Fisher being used in more then a support role? I have a feeling that the original cast will have some action in these movies, but more along the lines of Yoda, Obi, etc. Luke might get into some saber fights, Leia might be leader of New Republic. But like the prequels were about Anakin and that generation, then Original was about Luke and his generation, with appearence from the previous generation... Obi, Yoda, Vader, and i think the next will be about either Leia's and Han's kids, or Luke's kids with a support role from thier elders...

So no need to recast. Even if Fisher looks more like Jabba then Leia.

no. just news that GL spoke with fisher/hammil last year, and that harrison ford is open to playing han again. nothing is known of the nature of that discussion. whether he was inviting them on or just sought their opinions on the matter.

iirc she's actually on one of those highly publicized diets with a commercial campaign set to exploit. so we might not see jabba...but probably will still be frightened.

As we’ve said in pretty much all of these Star Wars-related posts, nothing is 100% confirmed until Disney says it is. And so it is that although Matthew Vaughn was said to be in negotiations for Star Wars VII, another, out-of-left-field contender has emerged.

According to one website, Safety Not Guaranteed director Colin Trevorrow is in “early talks” to helm the first installment of the new trilogy. The news should most definitely be taken with a grain of salt, but if true, Trevorrow would be an intriguingly unexpected choice.

The rumor comes from Celebuzz (via The Film Stage), who claim that Trevorrow met with Lucasfilm several months ago. Apparently his name came up because Lucas loved Trevorrow’s indie sci-fi romance Safety Not Guaranteed. Lucas isn’t directly responsible for making the decision, but no doubt his opinion still carries some weight. For whatever it’s worth, Trevorrow’s name did not appear in the director shortlist that surfaced earlier this week, which included the likes of Vaughn, Steven Spielberg, Neill Blomkamp, Alfonso Cuarón, Darren Aronofsky, and Joss Whedon.

My point is the Elders thing will be fine if it's just Luke. But seeing the whole trio like that would be depressing.

The advantage of recasting is that you could still have them as the main characters. I think the Saga should be about Anakin or Luke.

But don't worry chances are it's going to happen the way your saying.

I doubt he would want/need their views/opinions unless he wanted them to be directly involved.
