No, I like it because he looks like he likes it. He'll do his best and that's good enough for me… for now!
To be honest, ST:ID was far from original, a silly story, reference galore etc etc… BUT… despite all that (it's not a great movie) I did find it very well paced and also way more entertaining than any PT movie. So… the worst we can get is a nostalgiafest with endless SW repetitions that at least entertains… It's a step up from the PT either way. 😉

oh i see what happened. the wording of my statement was wide open for interpretation. my bad. lets try this:I never doubted that mark would succeed at his new healthy lifestyle commitment. my concern has not been focused on that but rather jj's handling of the trilogy.
The Trek films were nothing special, but they were fun and entertaining. The PT... was nowhere close to that.
I doubt anyone is retarded enough to think that the sequels will "recapture" the originals... it just can't happen. But if they pull off 'fun and entertaining' instead of 'boring, frustrating, and unbelievably horrendous on every front', then Abrams will have done a good job in my books.

This is a very good perspective. I wish more people were this open-minded. The Star Trek reboot has hardly been anything near "crap."
