Oh please Stun… be the spoiler whore we know. 😉

Oh it's most tempting queeq. After i lap up the first official tidbit of casting news, i can see myself breaking into Pinewood studios next lol.

I'd love to see the pics!

Well, if i have a mental breakdown in the next few months, walk out of my job and decide to go on a 2 hour drive in my bare feet with a crack team of local nerds to Pinewood, i'll hook you up lol

Great! I'll start with a phone call to your boss. 😉

I just hope they wash all the mess that is the EU and the prequels and just make a nice storyline for a change. You know, like the original ones? Seeing glowing sticks clashing around with no purpose isn't something that will bring me to the cinema.

PS: pun completely intended

Hehehe…

I hope it's not gonna be an homage fest.

Guess this old piece of junk is still going strong....

Interesting...

🙂

I hope it will be.

Well, the official press release puts the nail in the coffin of the EU, from Heir To The Empire onward. Live action and animated appearances only count as canon now.

I don't know what to think. I didn't want them to do adaptions of the books, but I don't like being led to believe this was official history post ROTJ, either.

You read the press release, they are trying to massage this, enough that it sounds like they want it both ways. 🙄

Sounds good, although they could exclude the Clone Wars from canon, if you ask me. The whole issue of Dark Jedi is weird in light of the only-two-rule.

^ Well to be fair they had to include TCW since it was George Lucas's creation, and he spent many many hours working on it's stories. Otherwise right from the start the new canon would be different to Lucas's own canon.

I always held the "levels" of canon as being true, rather than everything being equal, so this doesn't really bother me as much as I'm sure it does others.

Swtor though... I wanted that to be canon.

Well SWTOR is so far our the frame of reference that it won't interfere with anything so there's no issue with holding that as relevant.

I guess we'll have to tinker with the canon threads at some point now it's been made unambiguous, though I would rather have done that at the same time as a forum revamp from Raz.

The idea of an 'EU' section will be a bit odd now, as technically not all non-film stuff will be out the canon. It would have to be a books, comics and games section with its own canon note I guess.

Well, that's still workable, isn't it.

Pretty much! That debate can continue in the what-has-been-up-to-now the EU area. The only difference for the film areas is that there will now be non-film material that counts as canon. If that causes any blatant discontinuity, I reckon we can just deal with that at the time, though mostly we'll just have to live with it.

Discontinuity is a problem within the films even.

Oh, I know. It's just that part of me wanting it to be "official" etc. It's not the end of the world, or anything.
