It would be but IMHO, Ray takes this. Total control of the EM Spectrum, solid light constructs, indestructible energy form (Lobo tried his best to kill Ray and failed miserably), etc...

Didnt he also take on sime of the jla at once?

Can't remember, but his fight with Lobo was epic. People forget, Lobo hit ray with ANTI-MATTER and Ray not only survived he didn't even lose consciousness and pulled himself together pretty quickly.

That was damn impressive. He should have been dead.

And therein lies his downfall. Nova can control, absorb and manipulate ANY energy source. Including gravimetric nodes, which cut off electromagnetic energy, psionic energy and even magic based energy.

NO.

That's why I mentioned the Anti-Matter incident. If Ray has that much control over his form that even being assaulted by Anti-Matter didn't destroy him, Nova ain't absorbing anything from Ray except a brutal beating.

Faulty premise. Couldn't I easily flip that around and ask has the Ray ever resisted absorption from someone on Nova's level?

I'd like you to consider my argument for a moment. Nova has the ability to generate Nodes that are made of the same gravimetric energy that his shields are made from. He's used those nodes to trap beings of energy before. Psionic energy to be exact. Harrow was powerful in his own right. Able to cloak himself psionically to escape detection from galactus, fighting evenly with Nova etc.

Arguing that Rider would somehow physically defeat a being a pure energy is an exercise in futility. This is why I argue that he could contain the ray in a hyper gravimetric node and thus incapacitate him. Still counts as a forum win.
