I find his relationship with Emma being more troubling.

A woman he has confided in throughout the last bunch of eras suddenly thrown away due to Phoenix possession. One would assume both would've agreed that the force controlling them was an overwhelming intent.

And now Emma is "telling it at is it is" whilst Scott withdraws into confusion.
An odd tale.

It's just Marvel wanting to break them up, and having no real idea how to write an adult relationship falling apart.

True...a shame.....one would think the relationship Scott and Emma had was more than just a simple Phoenix possession.

Everyone involved was twisted to the limit. One would think these two "engaged" mutants would've run into each other's arms for forgiveness. Ignoring the obvious manipulations of the universal beast that controlled them.

But if a fiancé of a man can't forgive him for the manipulations that ruined him why should anyone else?
No wonder Scott feels like shit.

The sad part is, if this was Whedon, Morrison, Gillen without editorial breathing down his neck, or even Brubaker, Emma and Scott would be working things out right now.

True dat. 🙁

So very true.

It's just Bendis writing. Emma even said that they reached a point of Godhood where the slightest thought became ticking timebombs. In other words even stray thoughts became reality.

Also Emma forgave Cyclops for having psychic sex with the Red Queen during SFX.

Emma actually does have a lot to be angry about, just nothing Phoenix related (Which is down to bad writing). She's been taken for granted and that's mainly down to the writers over the last 5 years and the decimation situation I guess.

Cyclops did what?

Fraction made him have psychic sex with the Red Queen in SFX. But that's not the problem.

The problem was the way the relationship was being written. Cyclops was married to the mission (A noble mission). And Marvel wanted to tell a story where Emma Frost was being taken for granted. Her love for Cyclops was unconditional. At the end of Regenisis she poured everything of hers into the relationship (Her money, her dream of teaching, her time) and it ended up biting her in the ass.

It's a shitty story but it's the one Marvel wanted to tell. I'm glad Cyclops was right in the end though. Kind of lessens the blow.

Just shows how bad the writing is; It put me off so much that I actually thought that WAS Emma, I think.

And yeah, the taken for granted thing is how they sold it, but it was completely OOC for Cyclops. The entire point of their relationship was that they were two people that had sought acceptance of their true selves, and had found it in one another. Then Fraction/Kyle&Yost came along and ****ed it all up.

From the start, it felt like they wanted to break them up, even though they were arguably one of the more realistic couples in comics.

Exactly, the whole point of the relationship is that they were both dysfunctional.

It's completely shit writing. And I honestly expect even less from Bendis. The bar has been set so low. We're going to have Emma being the insecure ex-girlfriend. And we're going to have another Madeylne Pryor on our hands. Emma is most likely the mole which is a bit shit I think.

I don't just blame Fraction though, I blame Brubaker too. And Yost. Pak resolved the Jean thing in Endsong...don't know why it keeps getting brought up.

Brubaker? Really?

As far as Jean goes, I've always gotten the impression that Marvel at large just prefers Jean, and they've been looking for a way to get Emma out of the way.

Brubaker set all the plot threads up for Fraction. It all began in Messiah Complex.

Oh well, at least we know Adult Jean will probably never come back. There wouldn't be any point in showing Jeans reaction to everything twice.

Beast also really screwed up by bringing the O5 to the present. The Phoenix never healed the M'Kraan Crystal and now the Guardians of the Galaxy are going to have to try and fix the mess.

I suppose that's true, sadly.

Those thought bubbles with Cyclops' reaction to Jean were just... Well, ugh.

Yeah, I thought that would have some horrible repercussions. I just didn't know if Marvel would explore it properly.

I also just saw this morning that someone on ebay is selling Morrison's entire run on X-Men for around 100 USD including postage.

Haha I paid so much for more for it. That's pretty good. I think I paid that much for a third of it actually.

Wasn't Scott tricked into doing that?

Edit: Nvm.
