I personally thought the 2nd one was worse.

Making a "comedy" out of the whole power swapping thing instead of focusing on Silver Surfer and Galactus(I mean the big cloud) was a terrible plot idea.

Right, so it's option 2, the director and writers failed to get the tone right. What made it look worse was getting released months after Pixar's The Incredibles, which seemed to get the vibe of the 1960's FF effortlessly, and right after Batman Begins, which wowed the critics with it's maturity and just made the FF look like kiddie crap. They got it more right on with the second FF movie, but it still failed to fully satisfy (plus the whole Galactus as a devouring cloud controversy...)

The thing I hate is when people say oh, they tried it like the comics the last time and look how it turned out.

Tbf Galactus was in the cloud, we see him

LOL Yeah we totally saw the shadow of his head man. That's practically the same as giving us the real thing.

All jokes aside The only fair comment I can make about that film was the way the Surfer himself was portrayed.

Yeah it was really nothing like the comics. And the whole "Fun" tone has worked just fine for Marvel studios- Thor and GOTG had just that tone. It was basically Fox who couldn't make a good film using that tone.

But if they admit that now and say, we're gonna make the best we can with a different tone, because we simply couldn't do the Fun tone, then that's fine.

As long as they can make a great film out of this, I wouldn't mind it staying with Fox, simply because they can crossover with the X-Men. It's not like Spider-Man where as long as he stays with Sony he's going to be stuck in his own little world.

A combined X-Men and FF Universe would be a pretty large part of the Marvel Universe in itself. As long as they can make Great films out of them, films like X-Men: First Class and X-Men Days of Future Past, then I won't complain.

Bump for the new Trailer...

Doom looks like the practical effect Electro from Amazing Spider-Man 2

Idk still not excited

I look at the new trailer, and I continue to shrug.

The first thing that still comes to mind for me is how awkward the casting of Michael B. Jordan as Johnny Storm still is, how it's so obviously about broadening the racial spectrum of this cast of white bred characters(and making Sue the adopted one) and not so much about him as an actor. Plus that makes his father African American, and that just makes me think how much of a trope it's become, the black person in charge of the heroes (Samuel Jackson as Nick Fury, Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, and so on.)

Films & TV have successfully gotten away with changing some racially neutral characters to reflect our modern, multicultural society - Vondie Curtis Hall as Ben Urich on Netflix's Daredevil is the latest excellent example. But this one...it continues to look wrong to me.

Its just lazy.

It's stunt casting to get eyes on a dead franchise, same idea Bond has been thinking about with Elba. Granted Elba is actually a good actor.

I really just hope this thing bombs so bad that Marvel Studios gets the rights for the next iteration.

I still feel dirty for thinking this.

Ah IF they can do a good job then I don't mind it staying with Fox as they can do crossovers with X-Men, and the MCU has a full plate right now anyway.

But that's a Big IF.

But on the other hand if Marvel got the rights to use just Silver Surfer and Galactus they would not waste any time in making an Awesome movie out of them. Fox have wasted too much time with this Franchise and destroyed the Biggest and coolest Planet Eater by making him a big cloud.

So if Fox keeps it then they really need to Up their Game. If they can do that, then I wouldn't mind seeing the FF and X-Men join forces to fight off Galactus and SS.

You're missing the main issue. Marvel Cinematic Universe would become 10X better with the FF franchise....not because of Surfer or Galactus or the Four themselves (though the former 2 would be great), it's all about seeing the Greatest comic book Villain FINALLY get a quality live action treatment; and of course I'm talking about Doctor Doom.

Joker and Magneto have gotten multiple Great performances. Doom needs one, very badly, so the world can see how badass a Supervillain can be.

^ Ah yes, I forgot about Doom. And didn't look carefully enough at your Sig Lol.

Yeah that seems to be the only way Doom would get done justice.

Think about how cool it would be to get into all the FF characters. I mean, we're talking about Doom, Galactus, Surfer, heralds, Mole man, Annihilus!, etc....There could be so many great opportunities for Marvel Studios by just getting the rights to FF back.....oh well, maybe one day.

Marvel will probably go all out for both X-Men and FF franchises when they're rebooting the MCU in like 10-15 years.

For now though I don't think it would fit if X-Men and mutants were suddenly introduced into the MCU because the obvious question would be where the frack have they been all this time.

FF might get away with it I guess, but even that might seem a bit forced at this point.

So yeah that's my guess, that they will try get them when the MCU eventually gets rebooted.

I dont need the X-Men at all in the mcu. Theyve always been off in their own corner in the comics and now they're meaningless in the grand scheme. The Fantastic four however carries an almost unfair amount of characters and concepts that are at the heart of Marvel. Fox should just keep X-men imo

^ I just think it would be nice if X-Men could crossover with another franchise.

But you're right that with FF comes A LOT of great characters. Makes me facepalm thinking what the heck Fox have been doing just sat on this property for the last decade.

Marvel would have made a Billion dollar franchise out of the FF franchise (and related characters) in no time.

Guaranteed Fantastic Four would have been what Marvel used as it's "other" big franchise instead of Guardians. I mean, guardians is great but imagine a Marvel made Fantastic Four as huge as Guardians was.

I'm actually surprisingly cool with them not making Galactus into a giant dude with a purple vest and loincloth. A menacing shadow of a giant alien whose appearance human mind can't even comprehend isn't all bad.

The trailer of the new FF movie actually got my hopes up. Ben looks great. Doom... Not sure if the whole "Doom is an internet troll" thing still going on but he looked good in that brief shot. The metal mask.. everything.

And I don't care if people assume that I'm racist and will say it again... Johnny Storm should be white.

I agree with all of this.
