Fantastic Four Reboot

If they get FF back, they can do a Guardians of the Galaxy: Annihilation movie! That's what I wanna see.

I'm actually surprisingly cool with them not making Galactus into a giant dude with a purple vest and loincloth. A menacing shadow of a giant alien whose appearance human mind can't even comprehend isn't all bad.

The trailer of the new FF movie actually got my hopes up. Ben looks great. Doom... Not sure if the whole "Doom is an internet troll" thing still going on but he looked good in that brief shot. The metal mask.. everything.

And I don't care if people assume that I'm racist and will say it again... Johnny Storm should be white.

Very dark purple works just fine, as seen in MUA game cutscenes.

Yes, HT should be white.

I'm not much on board with Doom as an internet troll, but I have no problem with the rest of the changes.

I really just hope this thing bombs so bad that Marvel Studios gets the rights for the next iteration.

If Marvel gets this you'll have Cap and Hulk beating Galactus while Iron Man's zipping around with some shitty puns.

Nope because the Russo brothers would probably be directing 🙂

So Cap will beat Galactus all by himself then 😛

Some news reports regarding Josh Trank's decision to exit directing a Star Wars spin-off film, was that he and Simon Kinberg were not anxious to work together again.

That's very foreboding for their upcoming FF film, with the rumours of rancor during post-production. 😬

As if we needed any more reason to doubt this travesty of a film. God I cannot wait for this thing to bomb

Well at least if it sucks we'll know it's not entirely Simon Kinberg's fault.

Honestly I highly doubt this will actually flop unless it's as bad as Green Lantern or something. There's no other superhero films out this year now apart from this and Ant-Man, at a time when there is hot demand for Super-Hero films. Especially ones with a Marvel banner on them.

That's the thing (no pun intended). I think it will be as bad as Green Lantern. Here's why:

1) They're setting this up as a really REALLY serious looking movie. They're trying to imitate TDK it seems, but that's going to fail like mad. FF is not usually a dark comic. Especially in the earlier days. It always had a certain flair of it's own. They're going away from that.

2) The Green Lantern took an amazing, Iconic villain/entity and turned him into a turd. That's exactly what this movie seems to be doing.

3) And anytime you change something for the sake of change (human torch); that does not mean it's a good change. It's instantly going to be worse off for it to most comic fans. The general audience might be more forgiving though.

There are far more reasons why this movie will suck, but these are my big 3.

I'm not too high on the depiction of the Thing in this either - he reminds me more of Rockslide from the X-Men. Organic rock, not literal rock, people.

Ok so realistically are you expecting this thing to actually bomb? I mean assuming it costs approx $150mill to make, then you don't think it will make $300mill WW? Because that would likely be the breaking even point once you take into account marketing costs and theater cuts.

I just find that hard to believe when even the Original made more than that 10 years ago (but on a smaller budget).

The original came out at a time where few superhero movies were being made. Now they are a dime a dozen.

Considering how much bad press this movie got, I can't see it making much.

Of course they're much bigger blockbusters now. And more in demand.

Not sure how much the general movie audience has been hearing about that though.

no studio wants to break even.

The good thing for this movie is it won't have a great deal of competition in August.

It most probably will not bomb. If anything it'll make a solid profit.

Oh yeah, if it just breaks even, and is not well received, then they'll give up on the property for sure.

What I'm saying is I don't see it bombing. And like Firefly said it will probably make a solid profit in fact.

And yes the August thing can only help it.

Do I expect it to bomb? I dunno. I sure the hell hope so. The idiots in charge of the project all deserve to be fired. I hope it bombs, and what I DO think is that it's got a great shot at bombing.
