Fantastic Four Reboot

I just don't know what to think or expect out of this film. If it doesn't bomb and Fox keeps the rights, it's not so bad because of the potential crossovers with X-Men etc. They have always been an interesting contrast: the publicly loved celebrity superhero family, and the mutant family who are viewed with distrust and suspicion no matter what they do.

I also like the idea of that crossover. And without FF, the X-Men will never be part of a wider Marvel Universe.

And likewise, if it sucks and bombs and goes back to Marvel then that's great as well.

So it's a Win-Win situation Imo, as long as It's either a GREAT Movie or a CRAPPY one.

But it's just OK with mediocre box office, so Fox sits on it for another 5 years deciding what to do. That I would Hate. They've already just sat such great characters like Surfer and Galactus for so many years and done nothing with them.

I refuse to watch this travesty in theaters. I'll wait till it comes out on dvd and rent it; unless of course I hear (as expected) that it's not even worth that. It's bad enough to not care enough about the FF, but to fk Doom up 2 times now.....just wow.

Can't really argue with this tbh.

It most probably will not bomb. If anything it'll make a solid profit.
It looks good to me. I think they let Trank just go wild with his creativity. Something Marvel Studios stifles a bit.

It won't bomb. I predict anywhere from 400-500 M WW. It'll be better than this for sure.

Pretty much agree. If Doom is done wrong, AGAIN, in 2015, after two attempts, in my eyes the movie failed.

Even with its low budget the Corman film is leagues ahead of a movie where a guy named Victor Domashev using his online screen name "Doom" IRL to try scare people is passed off as Dr Doom.

^ Wow I knew people weren't liking the direction of this, but didn't realize there's THAT much pure HATE for this movie. That's pretty extreme when no one's even seen it yet IMO.

Remember one thing though, this is supposed to be "the young" FF, so Doom might just be beginning his journey to eventually becoming Dictator of Latveria, but could be very different to start with. Kind of like X-Men First Class having a walking Xavier with long hair chatting up the ladies.

I actually think a lot about a proper Fantastic 4. I liked what they did in first class with Xavier and Magneto being friends(not just friends, thick as thieves) at the start and think it would be awesome if they did something like that with Reed and Doom in college before things went off the rails with them and he goes to Latveria. Think how awesome it would be if two super geniuses like that were on the same page at the beginning. Maybe you don't even get THE doom as the villain until the next movie.

because they have purposefully and arrogantly changed core components of the story and not in a good way. It's not surprising at all. Ff fans should be leary enough, but for ANYONE who respects Dr Doom even a little this movie is a slap in the face.

They turned the best villain in Marvel Comics into an angry blogger. How can any fan of the Fantastic Four or comics in general not hate a decision that stupid?

Because any character's story has to have a beginning, a middle and an end. If he ends the story as an angry blogger then you've got me and I completely get the preemptive hate.

And bear in mind, a characters development can take more than 1 movie. If you look at something like X-Men FC, they've taken 3 movies to develop the character into the Xavier we recognise.

Doom deserves to have a proper beginning, middle and end however. Some characters deserve that. Doom is Definitely one of them. And TRUST ME, there is not going to be a good middle or end, his name isn't even fkng Victor Von Doom! This is a giant slap on the face to FF fans, and even bigger slap to Doom fans.

He's going to end the movie looking like a hobo covered in melted grab age bags and a ratty head scarf, with a mask that looks like the reused Imhotep's from "The Mummy." They screwed the pooch on Doom every way you slice it.

His name isnt even Victor Von Doom. And before the excuses start about it not working for the big screen, we all know Marvel studios wouldn't have changed his name one bit.

^ Only Fox and Sony make those excuses about "Oh that costume and that name wouldn't have worked on the big screen" garbage.

Am I the only one who finds it funny that marvels never backed down from canon yet are the undisputed biggest movie studio in the world?

I wonder if Marvel got Jackman for the IM vs Wolvie movie if they would put Hugh in the Yellow?

And now look at Deadpool following the winning trend. Now that the comic characters are gaining the mainstream success thats the version people are ready to see. There's no more reason to conform like crazy, just make a good phukking movie.
