MY EYES... MY EYES!!! MAKE THEM STOP BLEEDING!!!
MAKE THEM STOP!!!
Seriously, it hurts. And I never even cared for F4.
Why would they show that? You NEVER show the Thing's situation. Silly Fox...
Let me remind everyone that even though McMahon's Doom was bad, it will be infinitely better than the travesty this film includes.
Here's a quite from Toby Kebbell showing how bad it will be:
He’s Victor Domashev, not Victor Von Doom in our story. And I’m sure I’ll be sent to jail for telling you that. The Doom in ours—I’m a programmer. Very anti-social programmer. And on blogging sites I’m “Doom”.
He's using a screenname IRL to intimidate people. Even if he didn't look like a Dark Elf reject coated in garbage bags that's still the cringiest thing to happen to a comic book villain in 20 years.
People are being too sensitive on the Doom issue. It's not a bad thing that they are trying to soft sell the name - casual viewers might regard it the same they regarded Ricky Gervais as Dominic Badguy in Muppets Most Wanted. Like, too obvious? Look at the Nostalgia critic's review for Fantastic Four (2005) - "His name is Doom, people! Don't trust him!" he yells repeatedly.
Captain America: The First Avenger did something similar with The Red Skull; he only gets called it once, and to him it's a slanderous nickname. The are just trying to be more real, and not comic bookie evil.
They are following the lead of Ultimate Fantastic Four, where his name was Victor Van Damme, and after his change became a street person who gathered followers in Denmark. So I'm not dismissing what they are doing without seeing the film first.
They made him a blogger. The king of Latveria, rival to Reed Richards in intelligence and close to Doctor Strange in magic, is being made a tumblrite. A blogger who uses his screen name in real to seem tough...
And he looks like this.
There's a point where you have to say no and vote against terrible ideas with your wallet.
That's kind of the problem I have with their whole attitude. It doesn't feel like they're embracing the comic roots. Just changing things hoping to God they won't lose all their ticket sales just because naming someone Von Doom was the one thing that made a Fantastic Four movie just a little too far fetched. Marvel studios wouldn't have changed shit about him.
