How close could thor come to bench pressing the earth once?

Pretty sure people(you know who I mean by that) are gonna end up dismissing that as hyperbole.

The problem with that is Kang isn't just some smuch. Your talking about someone who is a genius in tech, scholary, physics, strategists etc etc. Anyone who claims this would be taking away other character feats.

I am pretty sure that still wouldn't stop people from denouncing it as such.

Btw, did you check out Abhi's post on the Mythbuster thread on Comic Books Forum? Hilarious.

True but some would be setting themselves up for a double standard. I have not yet but will look for it.

If the Thor fts is marked as hyperbole then the Superman fts can be marked as hyperbole as well. Both are statements...Kang is saying planetary weights and the girl that had Superman strapped up is saying the machine produce planetary weights. I think both statements are just as valid as the other, including thor fighting off the force of numerous of planets. At the end of the day, Hulk is stronger than the both of them.

Gotta love how this guy complains when people make too many Hulk threads, and yet finds a way to mention the Hulk in threads that he's not even in.

Lol...I was doing it out of fun, not to get to anyone. Since it riled you up, I will edit it.

Don't edit. Makes things more interesting.

What you have is called a "resentment". This is obvious by the way you seem to be surfing my posts and seeing me as some sort of enemy to your heroes. I have come to the conclusion that...

You're a Funny Guy! 😆

Don't be angry with me "little soldier". At least, not yet. Save that for when I have 5 minutes of breathing time and can properly address the thread you mentioned.

That is, unless you are using the description of "Hulk's showing within the Dark Dimension" as some sort of perverted, secret love code to somebody in this forum. Then, to that, I must say that I have no interest in Hulk showing in my Dark Dimension, thank you very much.

For now, when the three of you are joined in your solemn circle of mystic comic book... "stuff", know that I hold no dark intentions toward your all too vaseline-slathered "brain trust".

So, can't we be friends?

Look at Zop and I. We remain respectful to each other despite the fact that he believes Archie and Jughead have beaten the Beyonder.

In closing, I want to thank you for giving me the motivation to write this post. It's not often, (but, not rare) that I get a chance to use the term "vaseline-slathered" . 😄

But in that very issue it said that "If Thor didn't stop the Midgard Serpent thrashing around hundreds, MAYBE thousands, of humans would perish as a result of it's flailing around in the ocean." Does that sound planetary to you? It was in the harbor and a TUGBOAT filled it's mouth.

But every time (?) it was seen on Earth and not in the Void, it was shown to be MUCH less than planet size. I'm remembering the 'one eyed' version of it in the 1960s? Not planet sized at all.

I always read that phenomenon as the serpent needing to change size in order to interact with the characters. Or, to take a more personal pleasure in ravaging the humans.

Simply from "writhing", not trying to crush the planet. I'm just going by the words on-panel.

Then you have these :
http://www.marvunapp.com/Appendix/midgardserpent3.jpg
http://www.marvunapp.com/Appendix/midgardserpent4.jpg

Multiple instances of the Serpent being shown to be MUCH less than planetary in size and ONE instance in the "Void" (where time and space don't apply) it's shown to be encircling the planet Earth (and even at that time, a normal sized Ox filled it's mouth!).

Again, it is a size and shape-changer and it is within it's character to interact with characters in the stories. It has never said or been show anywhere that it is only capable of those smaller sizes. The opposite is always stated, that it encircles the globe. As it constricts, it becomes more solid in the earth plane. It can BE whatever it wants to be.

You would have to show something on-panel that makes a statement which falsifies it given profile and years of in-story narration and character communication.

There is also nothing that SHOWS just how much weight the machine was exerting upon Supes. I didn't see any planet-sized pile of weights on top. The machine also looked too small to me. It didn't look very sturdy. If it was exerting that weight downward, did it ruin the soles of his boots?! 🙄 Did you check them?

(as the narrator said, where the rules of time and space don't apply).
If you are going to adhere to that statement being canon, you also have to adhere to the statements about it's size and actions.
Come on man, you can't pick one, skip the next, grab another, then ignore those over there, etc. 😉

And even then, a NORMAL SIZED OX filled it's mouth. How do you explain this?
Psssst... Don't tell anybody, but... it's able to change it's size and shape at will. Yeah. 😱

Beautiful.

Uh oh. Here comes abhi and zop! "Hey! Kang is from the future! So, that story is a work of Fiction, unlike the Superman feat!". 😂

Of course he can do this. Why would the weight of half a planet bother him when the weight of several would just be a bother? 😆

He can also lift a serpent that is 3 times as dense as earthly material and able to encircle the planet 3 times.

AND, the dude can basically get turned into a living Neutron Star, and still move as if everything is fine.

On a side note, it sure is interesting how Thor was able to catch something moving "Far Greater Than The Speed Of Light". 😄
Money in the bank.

Here he's able to fight off the weight of a "score of planets". If you literally go by what Thor says, that amount is 20. Now if you don't buy 20 planets, it still doesn't dismiss the fact that it's a whole lot of frikkin planets.

Wow.

There is a LOT of ignoring to be done in this thread. Some people won't be sleeping well tonight.

The Kang reference sounds more reliable then the 20 planets reference. To me anyways.

LOL....I did't even catch half the dribble you scribbled down in this post.Although I am gonna get my popcorn and watch earnestly once you resurrect that old discussion back from its grave and prove what a masochist you really are. It'll be fun to watch.

"Score of planets" there is, but I can't really see where Thor mentions that there are "20" planets to be precise.

Could you crop the portion of the scan where he says that and repost it?

1 or plural score
a : twenty
b : a group of 20 things —often used in combination with a cardinal number <fourscore>

Score = 20.

Thor is like Abe Lincoln.
