The fact that it was an origin story I'd already seen in the last decade, the snoozeworthy subplots about Peters parents and Ozcorp, the weak as shit villain, Peter being an Edward Cullen-lite snarky skater boi instead of a nerd, the central conflict was dumb (turn people into lizards with this convenient dooms day weapon), Crane Dad, too much boring romance and more stuff I didn't like.
It was just generally mediocre in all regards.

He was still the same mathmagenius as he was in the first one.
You wanted him doing more science stuff? He was doing investigatory work, trying to fix his webs (though that wasn't his area of expertise) but he was still being a nerd.
I think you outta like Reed Richards a lot more when this new FF4 comes out.

Weak ass villain? Wtf man?
Garfield Spidey was a pretty boy skater with no real nerdiness at all. He wasn't bullied or anything, or had confidence issues, or had problems talking back to people. He was just a hot guy who was also really smart. Theres no difference between Peter Parker and Spiderman.
Tobey Spidey was a real nerd. What a ****ing goober that guy was.

The definition of nerd isn't meekness, it's more along the lines of being far too interested in a subject relating to science, art, history, or technology.

My big problem was the movie was a teen romance film masquerading as an action film.
Another problem with the first movie was the weak writing. The Uncle Ben and Parker Parents subplots are brought up but there's no real pay off for Peter. He becomes Spiderman and tries to find who killed Uncle Ben and what happened with his parents and then just forgets about it.
From what I've heard, they completely forgot about the Uncle Ben subplot in the second movie too.
