Batman Begins was the good one that suffered from previous renditions, but it DID accomplish rejuvenating the Batman franchise and bringing back the good will for TDK. MoS accomplished no such feat for BvS, it needed batman and wonderwoman to help build excitement...

Not every film can be as Epic as BB but MOS already was a financial success though, so already proved itself with audiences following the financial disaster that was Superman Returns. MOS could have been another flop like SR but it wasn't, which indicated a much more positive response from audiences this time.

TDK's quality helped itself backed by BB's quality and backed by the press exposure of the unfortunate demise of Heath Ledger.

But by the time of TDKR the franchise just had massive value after 2 not just good, but Epic films. Which is why TDKR was able to drop down in the level of Quality but still make huge money.

It's been proven time and again that excitement for a franchise dwindles when its movies keep being dragged through shit. At some point even when a good one is finally made, the stench from the old ones still permeate the air. Batman Begins was the reboot when no one was rebooting; it virtually didn't exist in Hollywood at that time. And it made it fashionable (maybe too much so, now. Now we get reboots following other failed reboots.) The three best reboots from the past 10+ years were BB, Casino Royale, and Star Trek. All were highly acclaimed, all had box office that was excellent but not spectacular, because all three had to sweep the dreck off the deck from recent, previous films.

^ Which proves MOS did do well, being a reboot which also had to battle the stench of it's previous film. And given the previous film flopped at the box office, MOS could have done so too if audiences didn't respond well.

Good point though about BB being one of the first reboots. That was probably a bigger risk than I gave it credit for.

Well BB was coming off a double header of relatively recent shitfests called Batman Forever and Batman and Robin. MoS was coming off a decent but ultimately mediocre Superman Returns and then the next supes movie before that was quest of peace in the 80's. Whatever you want to say about superman returns it's still >>>>> those corny cheesy hilariously bad batman forever and batman and robin movies.

^ True Batman had more stacked against it. But Batman replied with one Epic movie. No easy task though.

Man of Steel wasn't that big of a success despite the DC fanboy claiming it just rained profits.

Ok, its another episode of "Take it with a grain of salt"
Potential spoilers from someone working on the JL film. Some WW stuff too.

Spoiler:

Darkseid is the JL villain, obviously. The first movie ends with him being teleported elsewhere and the League realizing they need to recruit even more (see more about that later) to stop him when he returns.

Superman is absent until the very end. He comes back and delays Darkseid just enough so they can send him somewhere else.

Batman and Superman have some nice back and forth banter. Seems kinda out of place though

Willem Dafoe is playing Kent Nelson. I saw the helmet the other day on set. It's on Kent's shelf in one scene. They're planning on suiting him up fully for JL Part 2 (more on that later).

The second Justice League film will have many of the lesser known League members joining up. They want to create a huge team of members to include whenever there is a global threat. That way, fans can get hyped and hope that they bring in the rest of the League for future movies. Other heroes they're considering now are Blue Beetle, Zatanna, Martian Manhunter, Booster Gold, Plastic Man, Raven, and some others.

The only hero brought in for Part 2 that stays a, main member is Green Lantern, who will be Hal Jordan (John Stewart might appear briefly in Part 2, still discussing that).

The Cyborg movie is up in the air right now. Lots of talks about making it into a Titans film instead.

Zack Snyder is NOT being booted off any upcoming movies. I've seen a few petitions online concerning that. Everyone I've talked to about this knows about it and is worried about this movie. Snyder is focusing on visuals again but the story is way more coherent this time in my opinion.

The Justice League Dark movie is NOT dead at all. I heard they're going to have a huge announcement about it at Comic Con this year. The goal is to make everyone forget about Marvel this year and reel people back in after the failure of BvS.

Martian Manhunter is a big character they're considering bringing in, but they're worried the general public will think it's too weird or not like him. They're considering changing his character up a bit to fix this, but I don't personally like it.

Lex does get cleared. LexCorp pays someone else to confess to blowing up the Capitol and provides the needed evidence to clear his name. He makes a speech claiming he will clear his name in history and show the world he is a good man. He has a very small part in JL, with his speech and the news story shown for a few minutes

The villain in Wonder Woman is Ares. He has some freaky Scarlet Witch level mind control that he uses to kickstart World War I (if I'm not mistaken, he mind controls Gavrilo Princip). Ares is a longtime foe of the Amazonians and Wonder Woman decides to go out and stop him. They kinda have this cheeky "Oh, Wonder Woman was here at this famous event" thing going on that's meh. Later in the film, other warriors join her and Chris Pine and his soldiers in a battle against Ares. Reminds me a lot of Captain America with the soldiers they freed.
There's also a really cool opening scene in Themyscira that reminded me of the opening to Man of Steel. It shows when Ares attacked a long time ago and it establishes that conflict makes him stronger.

A sequel to Suicide Squad is being considered. If SS does well, they may make a Birds of Prey movie.

Jeez, WB should really stop paying someone to spoil their films lmao.....

interesting fanfic though

I like that Willem Dafoe news, if true. Makes sense.

This fanfic is still more interesting than BvS's storyline.

I can't read it just in case. Spoilers ruin things for me.

Part of going to the movies is the surprise.

Gods - yet another actor pulled from Marvel films to star in a production for their rival. It's like DC/Warners is trying to decode Marvel's secret recipe for success. Who's next? Tobey Maguire? Hugh Jackman?

Nothing against J.K., but I'll say it again - every time they have done this kind of casting, it has backfired on the movie somehow, someway.

Lol. There is only so many good actors to choose from. Their bound to work for both companies. Sony/Marvel wanted Michael Keaton, but it didn't happen.

Seems to have worked with Ben Affleck, who most agree was the best part of Batman V Superman.

No... the best part of BvS was this (sorry for the crappy quality):

^ I was just complaining on the other thread that they hired Gal for Eye Candy, and then I see this post.

😂

Eye candy is needed. Let's not pretend like she has some other purpose in comics themselves:

😉

Marvel is fine without Keaton. I'm glad he didn't sign on.
