Seems that they'll likely be just an aside, same as they were in the first film, though that thing seemed more of a hint at xenos and Scott tried to spin it as though the two film franchises weren't directly connected.
Yeah, that annoys the shit out of me. Everyone knew that, Prometheus was a spiritual prequel to Alien and everyone was fine with that. Scott bent over backwards in stating that, Prometheus and Alien were two different things. Now he's embracing it.

Is this still gonna have a hint of Prometheus to it?
I still think it is a sick joke. Filming is still several months away and he is f#cking with us.
Patient leech, take a look at the link here.

Even with an explanation of the title, how many people will read it and be aware? Not everyone follows extras, even on films that they're interested in. I have to agree with people saying that it's going to continue to be confusing to people who haven't looked into it, and baffling to those who have.

It should still be mostly Prometheus with a hint of Alien, because Ridley has made clear that there will not be any xenomorphs in it (which is why the name change is so baffling). He has fashioned some new terrifying creature(s). But see, you are already confused by the title, only illustrating my point as to how stupid of an idea it is. It makes it sounds like he is abandoning much of what he had planned for Prometheus sequels, but the film is still supposed to pick up right where the first one left off, following David and Shaw's exploration of the Engineer home world.I still think it is a sick joke. Just seems to be in production hell

Originally posted by Patient_LeechI think it's a coordinated effort to bring attention to their combined cinematic universe of this and alien five. Who even knows if he's behind this or being kind of forced into the title. I just hope it focuses on the Engineers and only briefly touches on the xenommorphs. Time will tell. Sometimes it's better when we don't hear every temporary change because our minds contemplate a little too much.
I saw that. It's not a satisfactory explanation especially considering the massive confusion it will cause. Prometheus was always intended to explore the origins of the Aliens (among other things), so why change the name now? This is craziness. Either he's screwing with us or he's truly gone senile.
^ Yeah. That very likely is the intention, but I hope it doesn't backfire and cause so much confusion and make it perform poorly at the box office. I think overall Prometheus was well liked (excluding of course annoying nit-picky Alien fanboys who got on the b!tch bandwagon, blah, blah..). So I honestly fear that not calling it "Prometheus: [something]" could cause a poor box office performance... [In the voice of a casual hillbilly moviegoer:] "Aw, another damn Alien movie?? Whatever, I'll catch it when it gets to RedBox. Sure wish it was a sequel to Prometheus, I wanted to see what happened with that chick and the headless android. Oh well.."

Originally posted by Patient_LeechI definitely hope this does well because what I hear about these engineers I definitely want to see more of these films. We can get more Alien with part five. I grew up a Predator guy but the alien franchise seems to get the higher budget attention while the Predator one seems to be cast aside for the time being.

I think there's something about the alien from Alien(s) that is a little more believable and visceral than the Predators. It plays on our evolutionary fear of earthly animal predators (meaning lions, tigers, bears, oh my). It's more terrifying to me because the aliens just kill out of instinct because that is just what they do. Predators appear to be doing it for sport, which just isn't as scary. Hell, we hunt for sport. That being said, I like Predator 1 and the more recent Predators quite a lot... great sci-fi action/adventure films.
