What is an HJ?Yeah, they better give us some fu#king Engineers. We'll at least get their dead planet homeworld.
Seems they're using NZ to depict a lush vibrant green planet teeming with life, so maybe to contrast the Engineers dead planet we heard about earlier? Or possible show how the Engineer's planet looked at one point compared the barren landscape it supposedly is now?

Sigh.
The downside is whenever a filmmaker thinks "exotic", they think New Zealand.
And in the end, it gets done to death.
Dr. Manhattan has joined the cast. That's cool.

They are set to film in a month or so. Crazy...
Originally posted by Patient_LeechAgreed. The xenos have been done to death and the engineers were far more interesting but here we go again. My interest in this film has plummeted. I am not saying I won't see it I'm saying I can definitely wait and don't have high hopes.
^ For some, yes. But as several of us have mentioned, we still want to get more Engineer mythology. It's more interesting at this point because as Ridley used to say, the xenomorph has been done to death.

No matter the mythos, they were too humanoid in appearance & mannerisms to have much appeal for me.
Yeah, um... that's the point. They share our DNA and kind of relate to humanity's origins. It wouldn't make sense if they looked like fu#king elephant-squids or something.

Yeah...nah I honestly didn't find The Engineers as interesting as others did.
Does not compute. 😛
They clearly have some sort of fascinating religious rituals, they seed planets with self sacrifice, and Ridley described them as 'vicious fu#kers' or something like that. That! That's what we want to see... not more of the same damn xenomorphs that Alien: Resurrection pretty much ruined.. lol. Well, anyway, we're getting the xenomorphs again, that's fine. As long as they get to some Engineer stuff, too. I know they'll get to the Engineers at some point, I just hope they're not skipped entirely in the next film.
The Engineers reminded me of ancient Mayans & that was cool.
The Pilot in the 1st Alien was an intriguing concept but when you actually see The Engineers as "big naked angry albinos" that was kinda disappointing.
No, I wasn't expecting tentacled aliens, I was just didn't feel the excitement of wanting to know more about them after Prometheus.
At the end of the day, it's an Alien franchise & that's what I want to see.
Their origins & not so much The Engineers.

Not if he keeps flip-flopping on his ideas.
That's yet to be seen.

At least Blomkemp had one vision he was willing to see through.
I haven't liked any of the other Alien films as much as the original. None of them really sucked you in the same way. So unless Blomblombklammpht really adjusts his style I don't expect much. Say what people may about Prometheus, but it's a great mixture of ideas, mood, action, and mystery. Fu#kin' James Cameron is a one-trick pony. He's a great action director, but that's it. And now he's gonna be doing Avatar sequels until he croaks.. haha..

Yeah, I'm a little less excited about this now. I mean, I'm sure it'll still be good, but I suspect they are going for the nostalgia card like The Force Awakens did. Don't get me wrong, I like some nice xenomorphs and chestbursters, but I was excited about the rich mythology approach of Prometheus. I just hope we dont get robbed of cool Engineer shit as a result.
Oh c'mon...even you had your doubts.
I'm all for praising Ridley but he's all over the place with this project.

We'll never know, though. All we'll know is what is, not what may or may not have ever been, unless they reveal some stuff in the making of featurettes or something. We'll just have to see how well the film we get works.
Besides, projects get multiple rewrites all the time. It's not just this franchise.
