It doesn't explain the rest of the group having no idea where they are when everyone's position is relayed to everyone else in real time. Once the storm's going, sure. One guy not showing up again on trackers until he's right by the ship because of the storm, I'll even let that slide. But the initial separation really doesn't track.

I don't think everyone had access to the map "in real time." They were consulting Fifield about where to go. "Pups are saying 'this way.'"

Really there ARE more interesting things about the film to discuss, which is why it annoys me that they didn't make it clearer in the film, because this is all anyone ever remembers.

Oh, I love the movie, and the little things really didn't bother me, just saying that for a lot of people they were noticeable and if we're giving an honest critique they did take away from what is otherwise an amazing film from start to finish.

Some things I think people just were nitpicking too much. For instance our protagonist being mobile so quickly after the surgery, but people ignoring the stimulants/pain killers she popped and injected.

It wasn't so much ignoring the pain stimulants but more the fact that she just had a cesarean & was running around with a freshly stitched stomach.

What really through me off tangent was the randomly placed holographic recording devices on the walls of the corridors.
Yeah they were there to keep the story flowing but my mind kept wondering as to what practical purpose The Engineers installed them in the 1st place..?

Like a black box in an airplane, I guess.

I have a question.

Is the Alien, Predator, AvP, Prometheus films all in the same universe?

According to SD Perry the writer of Alien the Weyland-Yutani Report.

Other stuff:
- At the moment, Aliens has its own universe, Predator has its own, AvP has its own. That may change, but again, I don't know anything. For this project, I was strictly in the Aliens universe.
- Hicks does mention in passing that there were already some Marines at Hadley's Hope. That is a reference to one of the new novels, I was asked specifically to put it in.

According to her, she had helped from a 20th Century Fox representative named Josh Izzo to identify which is canon to the Alien Films. Here's what's canon to the Alien/Prometheus Franchise.

Alien Isolation is canon since Amanda Ripley's adventures in Sevestapol Station was mentioned as the second encounter with the Xenomorph. This was mentioned in the timeline of events.

Alien Out of the Shadows Novel is canon since LV-178 was mentioned in the book.

Alien River of Pain Novel is canon since Captain D Brackett was mentioned in the book.

The event Fire and Stone Comic is canon since the year 2219 AD and ships "Geryon" and "Kadmos" was mentioned in the timeline of events as being sent to LV-223.

What's non canon are the Predator Films,AVP Films,Aliens Colonial Marines, the old Dark Horse Comics, etc.

I recommend getting the book Alien the Weyland-Yutani Report. Hope this helps answer your question 🙂

Yeah, I just watched AvP again and it is definitely not canon, with its portrayal of Weyland and making Predators more like Engineers than the Engineers! It's crap.

Anyway, filming has wrapped on this!! 💃

I'm only concerned with what is canon to the movies, not the novels or comics.

Alien 5 was put on hold because of Alien: Covenant. Now the word is coming out that it will also be delayed due to the Avatar sequel...?

James Cameron once said in passing that in his mind, Avatar was in the same universe as Aliens. It sounds like Fox has in mind to create a cinematic crossover universe bringing in Alien, Avatar, and maybe Predator (this time done right, with that previous AVP crap expunged.)

-NECA have just unveiled a sneak peek at their impressive new Kenner-inspired Mantis Alien figure

-In related ALIEN toy news, it was also recently confirmed that NECA have in fact secured a license to produce figures based on the characters and new Aliens from Ridley Scott's Alien: Covenant!

Hadn't ever seen this before. Clears up a lot of the things that make you say 'huh?' in Prometheus and explains quite a bit of how it became what it is. Lots of info in 45 mins.

It also mentions why Cameron wasn't a part of this.

^ I've seen that. She's kind of annoying, so I take it with a grain of salt, but she did do some research & digging, so it was interesting.

Michael Fassbender has divulged a nice discription of the 'tone' of the new film...

“This Alien is going to be… I’m very excited to see it and everybody in the film was saying this is a film that we all want to see. It’s much scarier than Prometheus but it’s got the same sort of scope of Prometheus. It’s kind of got more of the sort of thriller, imminent disaster feel that Alien had, so it’s kind of a beautiful meeting of both of those films. I’m really excited to see it, I think it’s gonna be super scary number one and then again with the massive scope of Prometheus… Once it starts and the ball starts rolling, it doesn’t let up. It’s really gonna bring chills to the cinema."

I just got an Alien-boner.

*gets my popcorn ready*

Approximately 1 year from now we will see Alien: Covenant, and here is a short teaser image...

YouTube video

More excited for Alien 5 at this point, but hopefully Covenant is good.

Well, if this doesn't do well they might not green light Alien 5. And it really should be called Alien 3 because they are throwing out Alien 3 & 4 and making it a direct follow to Aliens. I think it's awkward to throw out canon like that. I don't like it.

If the canon is as messy as this one is, then I don't mind. Hicks got cheaped out, so I'd love to see him back.

I do agree that killing Hicks and Newt was not pleasing to me. Alien 3 was still good, and Resurrection in its way, but I'd much rather see what develops with the remainder from Aliens still alive and trying to deal with Weyland.

Some pretty legit spoilery material here if it's true...

The Neomorph. If it's true I'm lovin' it.

It could've been something like Biehn was already committed to other film projects & had to be written out.

I also read somewhere that Carrie Henn (Newt) didn't enjoy the acting experience as a child so maybe she just didn't want to reprise her role any more.

I cant wait for this movie.
