The preview killed this for me. I'll still see it but it looks like another forgettable alien film. I wanted engineers as the alien shit has been done to death. This doesn't look like anything outside the norm of the alien films.

Calm down, brah. There will be Engineers, in some way, shape, or form. There. Will. Be. Engineers.

What if it's a scene where they have an Engineer engaging in a greasy wrestling match with a tentacle-rape-monster?

That already happened at the end of Prometheus. But I like that scene, so I'd be down for round 2. 👆

Seems to be the same story based on the trailer. hope I'm wrong.

So what happened to the girl and David at the end of Prometheus?

Last I read, we get glimpses of what happened to them as the story progresses.

Cool 👆

You just can't be pleased, can you?

Best not to have unreachable expectations. The movie is not going to cure AIDS. But it should be a fun, dark sci-fi romp.

I dont get it, so the Engineers created the Aliens and the Predators have been hunting them for thousands of years? And the Aliens appeared on earth in the 1980s? or is this a complete reboot?

Sounds more like Complete Crap to me...

I hate that Fox did those stupid AvP movies, because they seem to confuse people...

I know they have all these comics with cross-overs and whatnot, but I really think the movies are separate. It is well established that Ridley hates, loathes the AvP movies so I guarantee he's not going to be using any Predators. Prometheus is a prequel to Alien. Alien: Covenant is a sequel to Prometheus, but still a prequel to Alien. It takes place 10 years after Prometheus.

Pretty sure none of the movies take place in the 1980s. They're all in the future. Back on Page 31 of this thread...

The Alien continuity is so confusing, it's really frustrating to try and follow exactly what's happening IMO. Like I'm trying to figure out why, if the Predator movies and the PvA movies are set hundreds of years prior to the first Alien movie, everyone is so shocked that these xenomorphs exist. Shouldn't people have already been aware that they've been to Earth before and people have seen them? Also, where are all of the predators during Alien, Aliens, Alien 3 etc? And presumably Alien Covenant?

My understanding is that AvP and Predator(s) (2) is/are not canon to the Alien universe.

Granted, it is confusing that they keep crossing them in the comics, but as far as the movies go, I consider the Alien universe separate. I'm pretty sure Ridley would agree. (I've only read the Prometheus and Alien comics, don't particularly care about the AvP and Predator ones.)

And by the way, I agree. It is confusing trying to keep track of what happened before what, etc... I think this is the rough chronological order:

2093 - Prometheus
2103 - Alien: Covenant
2122 - Alien (1979)
2179 - Aliens (1986)
2179 - Alien: fire & stone (comic)
2212 - Prometheus: fire & stone (comic)

Keep it simple. Fu#k the AvP movies. They're awful anyway. And the Predator movies are separate. [/QUOTE]

Oh, and if anyone cares to spoil the movie anymore than they already have, I believe there is a new Red Band trailer that reveals some more footage. I, of course, will not be watching...

My expectations now are that we're getting a movie much like the first Alien. Why do I have to be pleased about that? Why can't we just have a new approach to this franchise, especially with someone like Ridley Scott at the helm?

All I can now hope for is that the colonisation thing of Covenant is not a lame excuse by the corporation to get these creatures on board, in these people, ti sue them, examine them, use them as weapons etc... Making it even more like the first Alien movies.

Not impressed with the trailer.

Well, the shower scene with the tail rape hint was good.

Aliens have been present on earth via the Preds for thousands of years according to the AvP saga. I'm not sure how that lines up with what's presented in Prometheus and the actual Alien franchise. I'm not even sure how all of that is handled in the comics in terms of how the Preds and Engineers interact.
