Question? How much more powerful was Metal Cooler then Frieza?
Much more powerful. Meta-Cooler was trouncing two Android-saga Super Saiyans(until he got cocky and tried to tank their combined attack), whereas Frieza was effortlessly slaughtered by one Namek-saga/n00b Super Saiyan.

I'd put him around the level of #17, tbh.

Whoops, yeah, was commenting to original Cooler, but he was talking Metal. Yeah, Metal Cooler was a good deal more powerful over Freeza.

I'll never forget how Piccolo shit himself harder at his power level than anyone elses, he was like "that power level, its MINDBOGGLING!" 😂 I love the SS2 gohan as well, but something about the simplicity and outrageous power of mystic gohan...It really lets him stand out in his own lane. Like, forget your ss2, 3 business, Imma keep my cool ass hair as it is and stay powerful as phuck.

How about Piccolo's reaction to SSJ2 Gohan, though?

Less like of the usual "holy crap" wtf look, and more of a kind of fatherly shock and awe at how the kids grown.

SS2 Gohan is still my favorite DBZ moment.

Also, Gohan gets an "S" rank in style for the way he dispatched the Cell. Jr's. Even today, that is one badass scene.

Yeah, Gohan's a hack with the whole hidden potential thing. Don't want him taking up the spotlight again anymore than Goku. Piccolo I don't mind becoming relevant again though.

But other than that, what Zack said.

Bullshit. It's that kinda crap that kept Toriyama from making good of his original visions with Gohan in the first place at every turn.

That is f*cking terrible, dood. 👇

Gohan's SSJ2 transformation is my favorite as well. A month ago I spent an entire week constantly watching it. Everything about it was perfect. The build up. The voice actor. The theme. Everyone's reaction. DBZ went downhill after the Cell saga. Even when Goku vs Vegeta part 2 was awesome.

Funny, say what you want about DBZ kai, but when I want a revised runthrough of the DBZ story, it does the job damn well. And I'm perfectly fine with it ending with the Cell saga. The Buu saga would have been a bit of a gong show.

What, the caps? The music?

Is this a dubbie/subbie thing? I like the dub just fine, but for me the dub didn't get past the Freeza saga yet.

And besides, Japanese DBZ music is awesome. (Not into J-pop in general, though..)

The Jap music... It's just turrble.

Clips like that should give everyone a MUCH deeper appreciation for what Faulconer did for the series. If the english dub would've had music/themes like that, there is no way in hell I would have ever become a fan.

Oh yeah? What did you think of the original Funi dub? "Rock the Dragon"?

It was that, and fan dubs, if you were into DBZ back in 2000.

I'm talking about the battle and character themes in the episodes themselves-- not the opening title songs.

Anyway, I've watched DBZ since it first debuted in the US--back when it still had its original voice actors--so I know exactly what you're talking about. Faulconer didn't start writing scores for the show until episode 68. Before that, the episodes themselves were themeless for the most part, iirc... But that's neither here nor there. What I'm saying is that the high majority of Jap themes were absolutely horrible, imo. The theme that starts at 0:43 in the clip you posted above is a prime example. Conversely, Faulconer's scores added a LOT to the english dub-- truly made the battles much more enjoyable.

I can respect that.

This is the first time I've heard someone claim they don't like Kikuchi, though. It's nothing to me personally, it's just surprising because the main DBZ forums were full of people treating Kikuchi like he's Beethoven or something.

But I do like some of his work.. I think because DBZ was my first exposure to "raw" anime. I just never went off the deep end into full blown weeaboo country..

To each his own. I find the Jap themes/music cheesy as hell... Especially when compared to Faulconer's brilliant scores.

So, why was Goku at base and SSJ form suddenly able to keep up with Bill?

Best explanation I could find online, is something about Goku remembering the feel of godly ki, and that's why his base and normal SSJ forms could fight with Bills?

Looking at the fan subs, Bills and Goku do refer to god mode as a "world", and Bills later says he absorbed the "world" into himself while they were fighting.. So I guess unlike SSJ3, god mode has a reserve tank of sorts, so he's not entirely helpless when the form reaches its time limit?

It's either that, or goku learning the feel of godly ki effectively gives him a Gohan like mystic power up, which would make the SSJ modes nothing more then cosmetic changes..
