I never said any such thing. But some he could have prevented and didn't because he knew their deaths would benefit him.

Johns he kills or rather stabs and leaves to die.
Paris he lets crawl off into the dark and stands and watches when he could've easily stopped him.
The guy who gets taken 1st down the hole in the ground he is right next to him when it happens resulting in him getting the blame.

That's what makes it a far better film than CoR. Not the aliens killing people. The tension between the characters. The motivations of each and how they conflict with the others. Their own moral dilemmas.

R ratings tend to work against films for generating money cos it limits audience numbers which is why we see fewer bigger budget R rated movies nowadays which is a shame. Most R rated films now tend to be low budget cult films. Last R or 18 rated film as they are over here, I went to see at the cinema I think was Mr Nice or maybe The Raid although I can't remember if that was an 18.

Pitch Black has better ratings on Metacritic, IMDB and Rotten Tomatoes.

It's considered a better film because it is a better film.

Riddick made only 14 million less than chronicles in the US despite it being released on 1000 fewer screens and having a smaller budget and almost no advertising or an established character to generate interest. Pitch Black also had a much more limited international release.

The studios aren't daft. There's a reason they appear to have emulated PB rather than CoR with the new film.

CoR 'success' was entirely based on Pitch Black coming before it.

It had a bigger budget, a much wider release, an established character, more advertising, in your opinion a better 'mythos' and yet it's widely regarded as a worse film as shown by poorer ratings on all the major film websites.
