"The devil made me do it"

Doomsday as a character and a concept lost stock. DOS Doomsday, from that storyline, fought a Superman who was much weaker than he became. So anyone trying to obfuscate those two clear facts is just desperately deflecting.
If you want to talk in the out of comic, conceptual way, then Doomsday still is, and forever will be the "guy who killed Superman". That will never be 'diluted' and will forever be in mind of the writers who write him - not 'that time he was Doomsday Rex, a DNA modified version of the original, who was experiencing fear so Superman beat him'.
The same way Abomination is, and will be the foreseeable future, the "guy who is strong, but Hulk gets mad enough and beats him".
In any case - be it in-comic continuity, or out of comic, you'd have to be out of your mind to think that Doomsday is on the same hierarchical formidability as Abomination.
