How is Marvels Thor original? The only reason he might stand out is because he's a flagship character. The other company's Thor has the same powers. Super strength, Weather powers, and magic. Its all the same. You can cry all you want, but there's really no comparison to Superman except for super strength, and al versions of Thor have that. Sorry to crap on all of the Thor fans, but surely you realize this. If DC pushed their Thor or Image even, whats the difference? He's not even close to Superman in power set. Its silly really. Gladiator, Hyperion, and even Sentry are way closer to Superman then Thor. I just think its sad, that Marvels main tough guy (besides Hulk) was basically copied from norse mythology. Anybody could have done that.

You people do realize that Hulk was based on Jekyll and Hyde dont you? Hardly original.

I find it obvious that superman is ultimately derived from the hercules myth, though there's a million other influences that can be indentified on him. as omega vision pointed out in a recent post, all comics are derivative and that's their charm.

sentry was originally derived from superman and

Spoiler:
jekyll and hide (ta-da!)
and later from the kid from that twilight episode that sends people to a cornfield.

EDIT: speaking of which, anyone not reading deapool: killustrated better download that shit, cause it's ****ing awesome

Well it's not just down to power levels, as no one really calls Gladiator, Surfer or even Hulk Marvel's Superman.

But yeah traditionally Spider-Man's always been Marvel's flagship character, and FF/X-Men as the main teams associated with Marvel.

Although nowadays I think Iron Man has a shot at that Flagship role, and Avengers back at the forefront due largely to their big screen mega success.

yeah, agreed on pretty much everything

Hopefully, Sentry rips Thor apart then feeds him to Odin before he breaks his neck.

Then we'll have a new king of Asgard.

Hellz Yeahz

Done bet mad because your favorite character is head case and softer than momma love. Thor in Marvel U is unique, unlike Sentry who is a superman rip off with mental issues that rivals David Richard Berkowitz (Summer of Sam).

I mean Sentry was so over hyped, I think their were actually celebration in his death. 🙄

😐

What parts of Superman did MARVEL rip off for SENTRY...? Super strength, flight, a cape...

Those BASTARDS how dare they 🙄

A giant S on his costume...

and confirmation that Bendis was trying to make Sentry Marvel's Superman.

Other than that, he's completely original.

Ahhhhh... that GIANT "S" belt buckle... Gotcha! 😉

Those BASTARDS!!!

Sentry is like the only ripoff who went so far as to actually copy Superman's most iconic part. The "S". But really, we should talk about how big of a ripoff Thor is

Well yeah. Thor had a couple of version that came after him which rarely appear in comics. Shit stinks with unoriginality.

he was originally designed as a silver-age heroe with the same powerset, status and heroic persona as SM.

And I'm sure you're next going to tell me that The Martian Manhunter is a rip off of The X men.

No. And don't try to attribute arguments to me. That's comicvine level.

I don't know why every comic book company wants a superman for themselves. Its really surprising when you see how many superman clones are out there in marvel alone, I mean Gladiator, Hyperion, Sentry, Blue Marvel, Count Nefaria, Wonder Man. Then there are majestic, omni-man, supreme etc. Its really surprising.

Wonderman? How him?

Wonderman isn't a Superman clone. Blue Marvel isn't a Superman clone. Sentry isn't a Superman clone.

His creator wanted a superman clone. Strength, speed and durability.

Well regardless of what he would've liked, their isn't a link between Superman and Wonderman other than strength, invulnerability and flight...which would end up making a lot of other characters Superman clones.

Then they are. Superman level strength, speed and durability makes someone a clone, simon fits the bill completely.

So every flying brick is a superman clone?

No they're not. What? Simon doesn't have Superman level speed, not even when fudged. At the beginning of his career he couldn't fly under his own power either.

Not to mention very different character traits, origins, appearance...there's nothing there.
