A little here and there. Started with the film but was a little disappointed.

The film wasn't very good. But the series was very good. Starts off more childish in the first season, but gets more mature with each season.

I'd say Rebels is probably consistently better quality, because TCW would have all sorts of random episodes with different characters. But I personally enjoyed the variety that show gave.

Yeah, other than Ahsoka becoming Anakin's Padawan, there isn't much at all to take away from the film. And as DT mentioned: the first few Seasons of TCW were mediocre. I'd say Season 3 is when the show started becoming consistently good--and it only got better as time went on(Season 6 was nigh-perfection, imo.) On that note, I *really* wish we could have seen the events of Son of Dathomir and Dark Disciple depicted in the show like they were originally intended... But I digress. 🙁

Anyway, Rebels has been right up there with some of the best Seasons of TCW thus far, which speaks volumes in regard to its quality... Although, if you're enjoying the former, the latter is certainly worth a watch. Imo. 👆

I think Rebels work a lot better than TCW: tone, stories, characters. It, like tFA, feels like the OT.

Yeah I like Rebels and the fact that it's all canon enhances it for me. I would dig Clone Wars likely just to get more Plo Koon and Saesee Tinn stuff, but still.

That episode of Rebels with Ezra at the imperial academy was my favorite so far.

Rebels is meant to have more of an OT feel, while TCW is meant to have more of a PT feel. That much just comes down to the eras in which they are set.

But yeah, I am starting to find myself gravitating more toward Rebels than I did with TCW. Among other things, it seems more cohesive to me thus far.

Yeah at first I thought Rebels was consistently better than TCW, whilst TCW at it's best was the better show. But after "Siege of Lothal" I'm not so sure anymore, as Rebels best has come very close to TCW's best. Also loved the pilot "Spark of the Rebellion."

In terms of that ANH Adventure feel, Rebels has worked for me in a way TFA unfortunately did not. But that's for another thread.

Can't think of a single episode of Rebels bar Siege of Lothal and the one before that that I've enjoyed more than any episode of TCW, let alone its best, but I guess that's just me.

I felt TCW had very bad storylines, a lot of generic repetitive stories. I think it's great if you're in love with clone so something.

There were some interesting characters (Asaajj Ventress) but also some stupid plots twists (like the return of Maul).

Well for me I just found most of Rebels a bit boring (like when they went grocery shopping, or when they got stranded on an asteroid with oversized gizkas) whereas TCW always offered something new and exciting.

I also feel the overall production values are much much lower.

I tell a lie, the most recent one with Ahsoka in was pretty good.

As of now, I would say that the best of TCW is still marginally better than what we've seen in Rebels so far... But that's comparing 6 Seasons to 2 Seasons(actually, it's more like 1.5 Seasons right now lol.) Point being: TCW simply had much longer to acquire its 'highs'.

That being said, Rebels has been consistently great. Almost every episode has been enjoyable(the same certainly be said about TCW in general--let alone TCW in its first 2 Seasons.) The best moments/episodes of Rebels are, imo, right up there with TCW's best... But I suppose it's all subjective. /shrug

Anyway, I just think Rebels is delivering a better-quality product overall. /shrug

Subjective indeed, I wish I could enjoy Rebels as much as you guys.

That said it's getting better, looking back over it on StarWars.com reminded me that Stealth Strike and Wings of the Master were consistently engaging for me. If they maintain that level of quality I'll be a believer.

On another note, people like to shit on Season 1 and 2 of TCW a lot, but they are actually both pretty good.

Episodes like Hostage Crisis and Cat and Mouse were intense and exciting, Dooku Captured was hilarious, and then there's the Ryloth & the Geonosis battle arcs, Ventress in Cloak of Darkness, Kenobi & Satine, young Boba, Cad Bane, did I mention Kenobi & Satine? - just my two cents.

Of course it is. But do you truly like Corruption or those Gascon(?) episodes better then every episode of Rebels?

I can see not liking Rebels and enjoying TCW more but to say even the worst episode of TCW is better than any of Rebels (aside from Lothal) is, well, difficult to fathom.

Edit: Thinking about it there were some really terrible TCW episodes like that virus one or Shadow Warrior... *shudder*

Not necessarily saying they are worse quality, I fully acknowledge that several episodes in TCW were cheesy and had derivative plots.

But I simply didn't enjoy Rebels as much for whatever reason. I just can't help but find them deeply uninteresting, whereas while a lot of TCW episodes were cheesy etc. I found it easy to look past that and enjoy the action, characters, worlds etc. which always carry never fail to carry the episodes for me.

A lot of that is entirely lacking from Rebels, were the action is often pretty low-key, the planets and dull and barren and the cast? Well. I have mixed feelings, problem is the one's I don't like are never cycled out, they are they in every frikken episode. Whereas in TCW the cast is more varied often high profile. For Rebels it becomes far too easy for me to get bored, if the plot isn't really good.

As for you're examples. Corruption wasn't that great, but Mandalore, Satine and Padme carried it for me. The droid arc? I don't know. It was undoubtedly way too long, but there was the zero-grav battle, the meteor shower, the cheesy but funny cast, clone commando and of course big bang at the end. Shadow Warrior was a bit lame, but Grievous & Jar Jar was jokes, Dooku vs Anakin was awesome. Again when the plot is a bit lame, there is always something to keep my interest. Just isn't the same with Rebels.

I think it's a question of style making up for substance, I don't think there is a single episode of TCW that you can accuse of lacking a dynamic/diverse cast, a stunning setting and some epic action, at the very least every episode had at least one of those things.

So even when they lack substance the style carried it.

Yeah and btw I didn't say they were bad, just more childish. But the show got more mature each years, and just generally improved. Even S2 is an improvement on S1 IMO.

TCW movie is pretty bad though. No idea why they put that in theatres.

@Beni: Which members of the Rebels cast don't you like?

mmm Well I like Hera and Chopper, for everyone else my feelings are inconsistent, I wouldn't say I especially dislike any of the cast, just sometimes they are a bit meh.

The only characters I really give two *** about are Kanan and Kallus...the rest just....I don't care for. This isn't to say I hate the rest, I'm just not really into them. I like Zeb to an extent, but not nearly as much as Kanan or Kallus.
