Captain America 285. Captain America runs into the Porcupine and is valiantly trying to end the fight quickly. We find out why in the end.

The last panel is Cap standing and saluting Jeffrey Mace. I think I cried when I read this issue back in 1983.

again. Happiest day of my life when cap died

Who is "Josh" Whedon?

You're kidding right?

Ever watched Buffy, Angel, Firefly, or his newest movie The Avengers?

It's "Joss"

He is such a god to nerds that it is forbidden to confuse his name.

Sigh. Of course I know who JOSS Whedon is. That's why I put quotations around the "Josh". I have watched all of Firefly and Serenity. And obviously the Avengers, as well as plenty of the comics he's written. Not a buffy fan though. Dr. Horrible's Sing Along Blog was pretty funny too. Also, Cabin in the Woods wasn't bad...

Thanks for reaffirming your position. I was concerned that some people may have missed it the first time around.

Identity crisis when robin became a orphan.

That was bad 😛, didn't even see the quotations or the bad spelling.

All-Star moment with the goth/punk girl is very emotional.

Makes me want to read All-Star again.

I'm guessing the All-Star moment everyone is alluding to is dependent on many pages preceding it, for I'm not finding myself able to appreciate it.
Note the one page shown, at any rate.

I find myself thinking the art is substandard, which surprises me, for I'm generally NOT a person who rates comicwork by art.

Then again, I thought DC broke the mold when more or less the same scene appeared in JSA. THAT scene IS emotional, and (arguably?) my favorite Superman scene of all time.

This page in Superman: Secret Origin.

When I first beheld it, without even thinking about it, I started humming the John William's theme to myself. Probably one of the better "feel good" moments I've had with a comic.

From Marvel : Jean's death on the moon

From DC : Supergirl's death in Crisis on Infinite Earths
