shouldn't have been okay'd since it was well after the rest were shown and wasn't a violation that had to be swapped. what it was however, a deliberate counter-pick/re-pick due to sunday morning quarterbacking

ok, qubit sounds good. 👆

and re-picking now shouldn't really be a choice unless you're clearly over the limit....

powers ARE tomorrow then for certain? start time same as before? 2pm gmt?

Was told so regarding the drafts time.
Damn, it's lulzy. My Powers list narrowed down to 5 characters, 3 of whom are "same schtick under different sause". So i had to write them on a pieces of paper and let Mark take a pick.
Now it's a challenge for me. Whether I can make it to the semi with a bizzare abomination I ended up with. Or not so bizzare😉

if the power levels listed in this post are accurate then I have an issue with Ultimo. if he is class 100 plus the durability mentioned he is clearly over the stats of the first two body picks I had that Curryma denied. same with durability as both those picks could be taken down by normal guys with the right weapons / mode of attack.

Which bodies got denied Beat?

Yeah, I object on ultimo too.

Power Girl. Maybe Sandman due to regen? PG lapped the field in terms of base stats, Ultimo included. Sandman was for other reasons.

I don't think I need a scan-laden impassioned defense of Ultimo like with DA. He's not low herald, even in his stronger incarnations. Tough SoB, and a dangerous IM villain. But that's about it. Reading a wiki bio and acting ruffled doesn't change that.

Thor was unable to hurt him at all and he prevented mjolnir from returning to Thor. How many characters you know that can boast that kind of power below herald level?

Later - more powerful - incarnations of Ultimo were pierced, hurt, knocked over, and staggered by IM and similarly-powered heroes. No-selling Thor makes no sense. It's either team-based PIS for Thor, or it was before the new car smell had worn off of Ultimo and he was still being gifted his grace period when any new character comes into being and appears way cooler than they turn out. Or, the likeliest scenario, it was decades ago and is just inconsistent writing.

Literally, in his most powerful incarnation, a bad IM knockoff gets through his outer armor and a D-list energy absorber drains him of a lot of power. It's irreconcilable with the Thor stuff, as is his entire history.

It's also how he's treated on the entirety of the forum. Nobody thinks he's a Thor-buster because everyone has enough sense to see what his portrayals suggest. The judges will do the same, and I would be an idiot to try to convince them otherwise. If you need proof, open a Thor v. Ultimo thread in the vs. forum. We both already know what everyone will say. Or, make it easier, Ultimo vs. a low herald level cosmic type. The responses would be the same.

You can quote me on that Thor stuff if we fight. I won't be dragging the scan out, because it's basically unusable.

You're just judging, right? I forgot the list of participants.

😮

So, that showing against Thor is PIS IYO?

Lol. I'm so happy people aren't paying super-close attention. No, I'm not judging. I'm participating.

But yes, it's blatant PIS. Used to temporarily bolster his status as a threat. Far from the only time Thor's been used for such a purpose, as well. He jobs, everyone freaks out, then the bad guy simmers down to a more manageable power level over subsequent showings. If everyone who chumped Thor on their first go-around was at his level, we'd have dozens more heralds than we do currently.

Good to know.👆

Jean Grey was a mispick because his draftee wasn't clear on whether or not you could get telepathy with the mind-pick.
We went over several other picks in PMs before landing on Prometheus.

I can assure you that it was not a counter-pick.

Power Girl was redrafted because she broke the limits.

Sandman was redrafted because of the invulnerability-clause.

Arion was redrafted because of controversy and redrafted as The Question, hardly a strong counter-pick.

I was just mentioning Prometheus with that

Yeah, go back and look at some of Blair's old tourneys. Or, hell, a lot of competitors. They could acquire or build team-busting prep stuff in under a minute. One time he and DC built an army of super-amped Kryptonians in a few minutes, iirc. Herald level, granted, but the same idea applies. The speed cap helps, but I guarantee someone is grabbing or summoning at least half a dozen things in prep at some point.

Not being able to create also helps. It also, presumably, hurts Qubit, but again I'm not sure.I'd love for a harder lock on prep, but just know that you'll have to monitor it either way.

I just saw this.

If someone has shields up or a solid defense, creating tech in match won't be so difficult. I'm curious as to what Qubit has (and if he paired with someone like say Blue Beetle) what he could create in-match - not something someone has to answer btw. I'm just curious because I'm often the guy who goes for tech plays. I can't wait for the tournament.

Beetle or Machine Man are the obvious pairings. Any in-match tech construct would need to be meta level though, if I read curry right. A herald-level tech amp would likely be ruled against.

Can we start listing powers yet? I think I will get arguments outta the first two choices of mine and I wanna get it out the way

No

I will keel you 😛 😛

Im curious as I might of missed something. I could of sworn I saw you get resources from all three picks.. Does that mean you get the weapons/tech of the body mind and powers (if it has tech origin like implants) ?

I humored the idea of taking part and ended up thinking of Noh-Varr as an option and wasn't sure if his mind would need to be picked to use his super kree tech or if it came with his body since it's his gear. Sometimes the rules here just don't process right in my head lol
