But Cranston had many roles before Malcolm in the Middle which showcased his versatile acting. Like his roles on the X Files, Matlock, National Lampoons Thanksgiving Family Reunion and even Seinfeld. It's these roles that got him into Breaking Bad.

Eisenberg has played different variations of the same character. I don't think he can pull off threatening or scary.

He had many bit-part roles. Nothing that would have proven he could reach the heights he could as Walter White, imo.

I'm not going to pretend Eisenberg is a better actor; he isn't. But for this role, he's a better fit, and I think he's smart enough that he could do a really good job as Lex.

how is that scary skinny?

lex gets written as young all of the time...

she looks like she hasn't eaten in days lol

that's the comics though, as you know movies are quite different..

Marvel owns him for Antman.

I forgot about that...

Don't be silly.

So they shouldn't follow the lore?

The roles I mentioned were integral to the stories. They aren't bit-part roles. Also, Malcolm in the Middle was actually an excellent indication that Bryan Cranston could play Walter White. The way he played anger, frustration and fear as a father was brilliant.

Fair enough. I'm not completely against the casting of Eisenberg, as I think he could possibly do a fine job. I just would have much preferred an older Luthor played by Cranston.

Plus Eisenberg will look like a midget next to Affleck and Cavill

It's Brucybruce. Everything and anything is going to be negative. 😛

Luthor was never really a scary guy (in terms of physicality). Even fan favorites like Gene Hackman or Spacey weren't all that intimidating. It's Luthor's intellect that's scary.

When Goyer was approached about adapting the character for film he harshly criticized the character, implying that Martian Manhunter was too obscure for the general audience. “How many people in the audience have heard of Martian Manhunter?” After hearing some light applause and cheers, he added, “How many people that raised their hands have ever been laid?

Meanwhile Marvel is pumping out films featuring slightly obscure characters and laughing all the way to the bank.

Good thing Goyer doesn't have a final say. He went on record and said that they're not thinking about a JLA at this time. Several weeks later it was then confirmed that Snyder was going to direct a JL movie. With what looks to be like a bunch of obscures being used. Aquaman and Cyborg. And probably Martian Manhunter.

Marvel is like the kid with the can do attitude while DC is that kid with the can't do attitude. GOTG is way more obscure than Martian Man Hunter. MM has countless appearances in comics and DC animated where as GOTG has had less appearances in comics and feature episode on Avengers EMH. Goyer is probably a MM hater trying to find excuses not to include him in the DC movies.

Outside of comic and anime nerds, most of the GA doesn't know who MM is.

So what? No one knows who GOTG are. I mean the team has a talking racoon for GODs sakes. But what you can't do MM whose a super powered alien like Kal? Get out of here.

I don't get what you're getting at. MM can't support his own title, let alone a solo movie. Which villain will he be facing? GOTG is much better at marketing and making a movie out of.

Nobody cares about MM.

What?

Firstly MM's primary role would be in JL. Secondly why exactly would WB be unable to market MM when Marvel can market a talking racoon?

Seriously WB don't have a clue what to do outside of Superman and Batman. Heck even give them a big name like Wonder Woman, who does have plenty of villains and a huge name and easy to market, and they still can't even give her a solo film. So it's not surprising MM is out of the question. But to completely write the character off because "the general audience doesn't know who he is" is exactly why WB will never have the success with DC Properties that Marvel has had on the big screen.

Who said MM won't be in the JLA?

Second, I was talking about a solo movie and how MM wouldnt be having one. He doesn't have a deep mythology. The talking raccoon doesn't have a solo movie either.

Also, we're getting OTHER DC properties that aren't named Batman and Superman. Metal Men and SHAZAM are in development.

Man, they need to realize that it's the minutia that makes these movies so good. Using obscure characters and developing them is the key. JL will need to have MM, Cyborg and maybe 1 more minor character to balance out the main heroes. When watching Star Wars I love to find the background characters and delve deeper into the mythology. Marvel's doing that for us with GotG and the Netflix shows. They even threw in Hawkeye and Black Widow to balance out Cap, Hulk, Iron Man and Thor. Goyer's statements better be looked at by whoever's in charge over at DC Films and they need to do something about it.

Why couldn't he have one? I don't believe it's likely, but I would have said the same thing about rushing JL.

Aqua Man is a household name. Albeit for the wrong reasons but still with marketing people may see it out of pure curiosity

Like I said before, Goyer isn't the head of the DC Cinematic universe. He went on record at saying that they don't have real plans for a JL, yet several weeks later it was announced that JL will be directed by Snyder.

And, Cyborg has already been casted.

Because he doesn't have a deep mythology like Wonder Woman or Superman. Who would you choose to be MM's nemesis in the three movies? I just don't see it and I'm one of the biggest MM fans on the boards. 😉
