Assuming they would even use make-up (which they likely won't), that isn't what it's about.

Which I've had to say twice now.

Yeah because Heath Ledger looked exactly like the Joker

or Doug Jones looks like Abe Sapien.... 🙄

just seems your looking at the actor as they are to me and not taking into account what they can do during the make-up process.

Unfortunately from what he's been saying he may be using his own heritage as part of his Aquaman role:

Origin changes are always disappointing. This just proves WB was still afraid of Aquaman as he was. Granted, a more diverse cast is a good thing, but there are still ways of getting a character out there without drastically changing him/her.

The actor also admitted that Aquaman was not his favorite character in his younger years. Back then, he really liked Spawn and Lobo. Imagine that, a kid who grew up in the 1990s who liked Spawn and Lobo. (In all honesty, though, Momoa would be a fantastic Lobo.)

He would've made a good Lobo.

Way to miss the point again. Good job.

Not surprised at all.

which is strange to me, as DC has been pushing Aquaman hard this last while, using what is very much silver age inspired design.

Wut? All characters have had some changes to their origin and many are far more drastic than Aquaman not having blonde hair. The fact that Aquaman was exiled for having blonde hair is a very minor part of his origin. Hell, I don't even think that is part of his current origin.

to be fair, it isn't just the hair. it's his whole ethnicity. Aquaman is pretty much the whitest of the white members of the Justice League.

I don't think it's the most worrying thing about casting Momoa obviously, but still. If they wanted diversity, why not just not use Aquaman. Seriously.

Well, yeah, I already admitted it's a big change appearance wise. But changing his ethnicity really doesn't change his origin.

Aqualad?

If they were just changing that, I would agree with you. What little I've seen mentioned about it, though, is that they're changing that too to matchup more with Momoa.

It's not set in stone obviously, but I honestly feel like there's cause for concern.

Aside from that, I still don't think it's a good idea to make such a drastic change to a character, especially given his prominence and how long he's been around. He's the most major superhero to be changed like this, iirc. And yes, i'm including Johnny Storm in that.

Or someone else from the Justice League. Remember JLU? They altered the shit out of the roster, and yet it still worked.

I wasn't talking about his hair. I was talking about his origins. Aquaman isn't polynesian anymore than T'Challa is Nigerian.

He never said Aquaman is going to be Polynesian... Lol.

He wants to represent Polynesians through Aquaman. I'm not that upset over it as much as I still am over Gadot and now Miller. He can at least dye his hair blonde.

When did he say that?

I've posted the link on this very page. And it's been quoted at least twice on this very page 😬

Jessie in Suicide Squad?
