Irons is a go, fer shurr. Eisenberg??

Clearly they are thinking outside the box here, more extreme than the simple changes in hair color and skin color, in casting iconic characters. Adams and Fishburne did great jobs in their roles. This could work, but it's going to require much of the fanbase to think outside the box as well. I'm struggling with Eisenberg, but I want to keep an open mind, as I've been wrong before. If he can match Amy's and Larry's performance, this could be eye-opening. If he misses, this could be the bad choice that does serious damage to the sequel.

MOS made it clear: this is not your 20th century Superman.

Eisenbert is the same age as Cavill (both were born in 83), so he's not that young. And, I hope he keeps the hair. Like Gene Hackman.

What about Amy Adams and Fishbourne's characters appealed to you, out of curiosity? I felt like Lois Lane barely existed in MoS.

Hard to put my finger on it, but something about the maturity, perhaps, of the characters. They were less cartoony than Kidder and Cooper in the Reeve's movies. And while Langella was good in "Superman Returns," I could not stand what's-her-face as Lois Lane. Too young, too thin, high-strung. She just completely missed the mark for me.

I just don't see it at all. Are there film roles where he does embody Lex?

Both now you see me and social network have elements of it, imo.

While I'm not going to say he'd definitely going to do it, I honestly believe it's possible.

so.. i can assume Eisenberg will be standing on apple crates ..

Jesse has been nominated for MULTIPLE awards, which includes the Oscars. He has a strong body of work.

having an alleged strong body of work does not equate to playing such an iconic character not does it translate to box office success all the time

Just going to mirror what I said in the other thread:

For anyone that can't see him as Lex Luthor... Really?

not being snarky, but you need to see more of his work then.

the only thing he has been good in was Zombieland

They've made short actors look tall before. It's no big deal.

Disagree.

by using apple crates which are then edited out in post

Disagree. [/QUOTE]

which point??

What difference does it make how tall Eisenberg is? He's an adversary, and would only go one on one with Superman if he had his Iron Man-esque suit.

He doesn't have to be that tall to be Lex anyway, so either way.

That he was only good in Zombieland.

I... actually... like this casting.

Eisenburg can play that super genuis scientist Billionaire. Heck we got half of that in the Social Network. Sure this will be an evil version of that, but still I see it personally. And he's clearly talented.

I agree with Mindship that they're obviously going outside the box here, and not playing it safe at all, which can be a great thing!

Eisenburg was great in zombieland and social network, but it's still a risky casting.

Amy Adams is a great actress but she sucked in MoS.

I wouldn't say she was bad, just that Lois wasn't really a focal point of the plot, like she had been in other Superman movies. She had much less to do than the actresses that have come beforeher.

He was good in 30 Minutes or Less.

Now it's not like he CAN'T play Lex Luthor, it's just based on looks, attitude, demeanor, he's just not......ideal. Feels like the last ideal guy they got for this movie was Cavill to be honest. (Also Jeremy Irons, good casting there) I'm tired of squinting and saying, "well, hmm, maybe he can do it" I like when we can say "shit, that guy was born to play the role, I can see it already!"

he should at least come up to cavil's chin.. 😄

i'm having some fun with eisenberg's height..

i'm seen a lot of his films, but only Zombieland stood out

that facebook film doesn't count 😛

Gal Gadot is the only casting choise I truly have a problem with.

you think anyone thinks that way about most superhero movies?

Keaton, RDJ, Bale, Evans, Ledger, Ruffallo, Hathaway etc, all had their detractors when they were originally cast.

Very few, if ANY actors, come in to superhero movies with the "born to play" mojo, at least in terms of how they're seen by the public.

Same.

Had a problem with Affleck at first because he wasn't at all what I was expecting. But he's a great actor so can pull it off.
