I really get the feeling that he's being labelled "AquaMan" for promotional purposes & no one will actually call him that in the movie.
Remember in MOS, no one actually called him, Superman...
There will probably be an in-joke or newspaper article where they label Momoa as Aquaman & it will be left at that.
