Those films were a long time ago. After Earth and focus proved Smith is not an instant "half billion dollar movie" anymore. Heck Focus had Margot Robbie as well.

Please. Those were smaller, non blockbusters. Of course those movies aren't going to do as much as the summer blockbusters. MIB 3 was in 2012, not THAT long ago.
Pretty much any blockbuster Will Smith has done has been over 500 million plus. Hell, even Deadpool almost hit close to 500 in it's second week WITHOUT China. Don't tell me you think DP is going to do more than SS. :/

After Earth was meant to be a Blockbuster. Point is Smith has done nothing recently to suggest he's a guarantee for a movie to make that kind of money.
Also don't forget MIB was it's own franchise.

Hey DP's beat a lot of things. It's about to beat Ant-Man. Will likely beat MOS by the time it's all done. No one saw DP's Mega success coming.
Anyway I'm not predicting SS will make only £500mill WW. I'm saying the studio will be happy (and very relieved) if it makes that much.

After Earth was a Jaden smith movie, which not only was horrible, but doesn't even come close to the same buzz as Suicide Squad, yet it STILL made 245 million at the box office. Are you seriously saying that SS will barely make double that?
You forgot that Focus with Margot Robbie made double it's money back so it was a success. Point is whatever action movie that Will Smith stars usually makes north of 500 million. What is your excuse for Hancock? It made 625 million world wide and it wasn't a franchise like MIB.

SS can't just rely on Smiths name. It will need Batman, Joker and a damn good film to sell it if it wants to get north of $ 500mill.

Lol, don't compare Johnny Depp to Will Smith. Depp has pretty much always been box office poison, while Smith has had hits for the last 3 decades. And this is coming from a big Depp fan. Aside from pirates and alice, Depp isn't a big draw. We've been over this.

I already stated those, but you keep ignoring his past career in the 90's and early 00's where 99% of his movies flopped. It's pretty much the same with RD JR. They're GENERALLY not draws at the BO.
