Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

More positive buzz coming in. Take it with a grain of salt.

Friend of mine saw an advanced screening and said he loved it. Said it was everything he hoped for and more and that there are a lot of surprises, not everything was spoiled in the trailers.

I bought my IMAX tickets, can't wait

It's also being screened in Pakistan.

More screenings in NY. The response so far has been mostly positive.

@OzilPass11 so far they have been positive

Steven Weintraub Verified account ‏@colliderfrosty Just spoke to someone that's not the biggest superhero movie fan and he absolutely LOVED Batman v Superman. Said it's his favorite so far.

So, it looks like BVS is a crowd pleaser, even people who are not big blockbuster/super hero fans. That might give BVS good legs in the coming weeks.

What's Average, Good or Bad is completely Subjective.

But as far as studios are concerned, what the GA pays for is what matters. Critical praise is seen as a bonus.
On its own however critical praise is kind of worthless. Just look at Superman Returns- Praised by critics, but didn't get much response from audiences. Result- no sequels, and Singer gets fired.

I think Inhuman can't comprehend this. Sad.

The point is, How much a movie makes at the box office or how many dvd/blurays it sells is irrelevant to the quality of the film.

Moving the goal posts doesn't make it so.

You're right, the sales could be due to great marketing or a great brand name (due to the previous films in the series being loved). But movie sales does show what audiences are interested in watching.

Aside from that all film is completely subjective.

Advance ticket sales suggest Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice will hit $1bn

Golgo is such an idiot for finding these trashy reviews from Pakistan.

Gal is so beautiful.

Praise can and has affected box office totals at times though, so it can be more than a bonus, from the article Zack posted:

"Poor reviews could yet scupper the comic-book epic’s chances of becoming one of 2016’s highest-grossing films. Snyder’s previous superhero movie, 2013’s Man of Steel, stalled on $668m at the global box office following a mixed critical verdict.

The highest-grossing movie of the year so far is 20th Century Fox’s Deadpool, which has taken $708m worldwide off the back of strong reviews and excellent word of mouth."

Deadpool wasn't set out to flop as is, that much was obvious to anyone with a brain, but the praise it received rocketed it into the mega-lucrative segment. Making it the biggest not flop this year so far.

When a gamble by Fox decimates a DC Icon it's a hilarious moment. Lucky for Superman Batman will save his ass once again. There's a reason Super an needed Batman to headline the film.

Deadpool outranked Dc's golden boy. 😂

^ Yeah but bottom line is it comes down to box office. Hence the importance of reviews coming down to their effect on the box office.

But I think the praise that really matters is word of mouth from audiences to other audiences.

Deadpool obviously had great WOM due to the general audience and comic book fans loving everything about it. All film is subjective but I can't help but feel the people rooting against Deadpool were just marvel movie haters.

I didn't care for the film but I'm not a fanboy. It also isn't Disney marvel which I prefer. Fox doesn't come close to Disney's marvel cinematic universe. Did marvel studios make Deadpool ?

Nah, quit being woefully ignorant. It is great though it beat Man of Steel.

Great marketing, too. It made also made more than most MCU movies and X-Men movies. DP was a hit.

Took down an icon. DC how th rely on Batman since Suerman seems impotent on his own these days.

For sure, just noting that praise can be a factor.

From reviews and WOM, the DP haters were few and far between compared to those who enjoyed or outright loved it. I see no reason to believe that this didn't help ticket sales. The marketing for DP was also well done.

It's made (so far, still earning) around 12x it's budget, that's around; if not over Avengers numbers and this starred one largely unknown to the GA character as the main

More than a just a hit. Considering no 3D and no China it's been a Box Office monster!

Reynolds has done for DP what RDJ did for Iron Man back in 2008. Haters of both pre-movie release are quiet now.

You are free to love foxs marvel I vastly prefer Disney's marvel. That's my playground. Make way for Thanos. All of you will try to kiss ass around the time of Civil War. Make mine, Disney's marvel.

Ah right. Robtard said it didn't.

Still 700mill(and growing) with no China, that is monstrous box office.

Maybe it's just IMAX. Either way, it was HUGE. Hit, smash hit, whatever. I'd rate it higher than MOST MCU movies, which I find average.

From what I read, it wasn't released in 3D, at least not in the US. Maybe overseas?

Well if anyone here saw Deadpool in 3D let us know.
