I don't disagree. But apparently some people think if something is darker it automatically makes it better than something that's more light hearted.

Some people also claim critics were panning BVS mainly for being "dark and gritty" when that clearly wasn't the case as The Dark Knight was "dark and gritty" and we all know the praise that film got.

Been saying this for a while now in here 👆

We used to call people like that "emo".

Even if this film and predecessors was great and had lived up to its potential, it still would've gotten an unnatural amount of hate by certain fans. Doesn't really matter which fandom between Marvel and DC is worse in the end.

Nah. Batman Begins was very well done and I have always said as much. I don't know anyone who would lie about loving a movie and pretending to hate it.

I can picture Grant Morrison leaving the theatre after seeing this and saying "Zack Snyder raped my childhood." 🙁

The kind of comics he's written for DC for decades - we're never going to see the spirit of them in this cinematic universe.

I don't recall the Nolan films getting an "unnatural amount of hate".

The Nolan films (barring Rises which happened to be the worst out of them) didn't have to deal with being compared to Marvel and stuff as a means of measuring their quality or somesuch during their debut though.

Yeah they did...

What were they compared to, back then? There wasn't Captain America, the Avengers, etc. during TDK's time.

Maybe in there time they weren't, but today they're endlessly compared with marvel movies. Tdkr also released only a month or so after avengers.

Spiderman & X-Men movies were there to compare back then.

Anyhow , If they release a movie based on Dinotopia it will be compared to Jurassic Park.
If they release a Gamera movie , it will be compared to Gozdilla.
I dont get what the big deal is. Thats how its always been. It human nature. Unless some think BvS is special somehow that emits it from these types of comparisons.

Oh, true. And yeah, that's why I said barring Rises, since it came out shortly after Avengers.

There wasn't that much to compare to then, but eh...

Wasn't really complaining about the comparisons; it's a result of competition, and competition's good. Guess my earlier point was, WB didn't really have much competition during the first couple Nolan films, as it wasn't until Marvel took off with the crossover stuff when it really started. Then when that phase was reached with the Avengers which was also around the time Nolan concluded his Batman saga, WB started running around like headless chickens at the face of their new competition, rather than careful planning, and so we got a morally bankrupt setup to the justice league as a result.

👆 Yep.

John Campea talks about the destructive Marvel vs DC war caused by brain dead fanboys like Quanchi, and how it could slowly destroy the genre:

And for those who think Marvel fanboys are beyond death threats, he brings up how a reviewer he knows who gave Avengers a negative review also received death threats.

They are compared today and people don't tend to have an issue with them since they are good films. The man of steel and Batman v. Superman aren't hence the shit they get rained down on them.

You are such a drama queen. Creating rivalries has always been vital to sports teams. If people don't care that's the worst thing not people being diehard loyal. You're an idiot. Indifference and ahitty quality will kill this not certain fans favoring a side. You are citing the worst cases and being an emotional woman about this.

The Nolan films were compared to marvel movies and all other comic films but it was more of a vague comparison. Especially after Begins set a new standard. I remember quite vividly that the, Nolan movies almost existed inside its own bubble. if anything, people were comparing other movies to the realistic standards the Nolan movies set which is probably why WB chose Snyder.

At any rate. The Nolan movies were obviously compared to other comic flicks but not nearly as severe as people are comparing BvS to the avengers.

You're taking things way out of proportion. It's not Batman who has a problem with being too dark and gritty. What delusional madman would even think that? No, it's Superman who's abusing the dark and grittiness when he should be representing the light hearted portion of the movie. The heroes were supposed to be polar opposites of each other with different perspectives but everyone in the movie is a hypocrite. So much, it hurts. Literally it hurts.
