Hyperion vs. Ultraman

Yeah, I saw the problem from start. Hickman gave him such a big feat that no matter how he performs, it would still fall short to that feat. And you can't even use that feat as a regular feat because that would mean nobody other than a universe buster can harm him and that's obviously not true. So the character has became a conundrum as far as battle boards are concerned.

Haha. We actually agree on something. It's amazing.

Despite said points, I do believe he has an abundance of potential both character and power wise. He just needs some proper developing. I mean we know his intended level of power, it just hasn't really been showcased outside of a few throw away plot-based feats, as impressive as they were.

What he actually needs is some character development to resemble an actual character. At this point he is just a caricature of character.

Thus the use of 'proper'. But yes, I currently see him as a prop: to be used and discarded as the story sees fit. I personally find it sad that Hickman neglects him so. I mean, if he's going to do that, what was the point of introducing him into the story in the first place? It baffles me really. It's a shame when a character with almost no limit in terms of application is so frequently passed over. The character as is has no history aside from a brief explanation as to how he came to be and most certainly no foreseeable future.

Hyperion does have plenty of combat fts.

None of any great significance unfortunately.

He was working High Ev to the point that he was ripping his limbs off. He took out a evolved robot that was feeding off of unlimited Energy with a single hit (mind you, the same robot that was stomping the JLA during the Avengers crossover). He had the advantage over the Avengers that had Thor, Ms. Marvel, and Hulk on the team. I think that is solid imo.

Solid, yes, standout- I'd say no. If they were, less people would doubt him and he'd be more frequently discussed, at least positively, here on the forums. Don't get me wrong, I really like Hyperion, despite my disappointment over his treatment. I'm holding onto hope that Hickman does something good with his character sometime soon, though I remain skeptical.

Don't mind him. We both know that's not how it happened whatever he's saying.

Well, he's new just like Ultra man is new...so his fts will take some time, at least for the expectation you're setting for him. Ultra man has one solid combat ft and he pushed a moon, I see no reason for him to be over Hyperion based off that. Neither have concrete fts yet but Hyperion has more.

I guess when it comes down to it I'm just sad that despite Hickman's apparent excitement over exploring Hyperion's character nothing has really come of it yet. He's been pushed to the wayside in favor of other more established characters. It's not even about feats really. What do we really know about him? Not a whole lot.

OMG I hope so! I instantly fell in love with Mazahs. I know I sound like a turncoat because I love Ultraman. But I can tell already that this guy will be my fav new DC character. I mean look at that amazing character design. I hope Mazahs wrecks everyone. Ultraman had him locked up for a reason, perhaps he feared him? I get the vibe that he is more powerful than him as well by a large margin.

Can we, just for a moment, reflect on how ridiculous his name is?

Admittedly, he does look like quite the opponent. It's a good character design. That name though...

Orrsome you must be new here I don't recall seeing your name before. If so then welcome. I like you already because you have a beautiful avatar 😍 . Lol anyway I definitely agree with that statement I am definitely looking foward to seeing Hyperions character develope. I am waiting for him to have his own book. And I am also waiting to see a sun dipped Hyperion 😖hifty:

Regarding Mazahs, why does he have the "Shazam" thunderbolt on his chest? Why is his name Shazam spelled backwards? Is he some alt Earth Shazam?

Yeah, I'm most certainly new here. Just feeling my way around, with a few mishaps here and there unfortunately.

Getting on track, Hyperion is a character I'm most hopeful for. I enjoyed him in his many incarnations, especially the Supreme Power universe, and am most definitely looking forward to this version getting some overdue love from Hickman.

Yeah, he's from Earth-3.

Yup! Just like the entire Crime Syndicate being alternate versions of the Justice League, its the same concept with Mazahs. I really hope he sticks around in this universe after this event, I want to see a lot of him. Also I happen to love his name more than Shazam :3

More power to you, friend! 😛

This is where I disembark the Mazahs boat.

Yup, Superman: Doomed is about to come out one week later. I have high hopes for that series.
