Ah, still with the classic "You're not a true fan if you enjoyed/didn't enjoy this entry" kind of bullshit. Guess that's my que to step out of this thread again for awhile.

I loved this movie , everything i hoped for and more i loved that game of thrones Khaleesi was sara conner, she did an awesome job, Arnold is the original , and still is , watch this movie , effects were awesome! ***** five stars

Finally got around to seeing this today and it wasn't half as bad as I was expecting. It certainly wasn't Salvation levels of shitness. It's biggest problem is casting. Jai Courtney and Jason Clarke are both terrible. They under used JK Simmons and Matt Smith. They could have cut a fair bit of superfluous stuff out. Apart from that I didn't think it was too bad.

They're probably saving Matt Smith's character for the sequels....stupid reason to do so if that's the case.

Is it necessary to watch all 4 previous films before this one? Or can I get by just watching 1 & 2?

3 and 4 add nothing to this one. In fact this one completely ignores them and even outright contradicts them.

But I would suggest watching 3 and 4 anyway just to make this one seem better. If you watch this one right after 1 and 2 the drop in quality in pretty huge.

Haven't seen this one but I'll say this. T3 was pretty entertaining, even though it was mainly just ripping off T2s best action sequences. It was still a fun sit.

T4 was boring, mainly because the outcome of the film is blatantly clear practically before you even watch it, so there's not so much tension as much as slowly waiting for stuff you know is going to happen to finally happen.

T4 was kind of a pointless movie tbh.

I should have mentioned: I've seen all 4 at least once. Some of them 2 or 3 times. But it's been a while, so I was just wondering as far as the need to freshen up on the story.

I enjoy T3 despite its silly flaws. But I really don't want to have to sit through T4 again, tbh... lol

There's a lot of stuff in it that serves no other purpose than to make you nostalgic for 1 and 2 but don't really advance the story

I watched T1 and T2 again, so far. I plan to do T3 also, but will probably skip T4. T1 is much better than I remembered. I mean, the dated 80s music and hair and special effects are very distracting, but a few of the effects still hold up pretty well. It's a great little sci-fi film.

Here's my thing with T2, though: if they used the arm and chip from the damaged Terminator (from the first film) to help come up with the ideas to create Skynet and whatnot, then isn't that a bit of a logical fallacy? It wouldn't have been created in the first place FOR the machine to be sent back in time to help them develop it. Right? See, this is why time travel as a plot device gets on my nerves...
